No sound when lock/unlock car

The vin specs indicates my F15 2015 Japanese model has a car alarm but I get no sound when locking/unlocking the car - I prefer hearing the sound to be sure, just like my other vehicles. May be the previous owner coded it out or am I missing something?

You can turn it on in the iDrive settings.

Ditto RED_Y_…first check SETTINGS in iDrive to make sure you have the acoustic alert checked off for lock/unlock. If you want the visual alert, too…then check off the box for “flash”.

If it is checked off…then perhaps as you suggested…a previous owner may have coded it off. Can you initiate the PANIC alarm to verify that the siren works?

I don't have the acoustic signal on/off in iDrive . May be my vehicle doesn't have this feature?

Do you have the siren? Does your remote fob have the icon for the Panic Alarm?

In iDrive, you may have to scroll down to get the check box for acoustin and visual alerts. Did you scroll down once the screen was up to see if the option to select was there?

The vin shows the vehicle has "S302 Alarm System", does that indicate it should be having a siren, or may be the previous owner disabled it somehow?

Do you have the red LED (clown nose) below your interior rear view mirror that lights up and starts flashing when you lock the vehicle from the exterior of the car (manually or with remote fob)?

If yes, perhaps a PO (previous owner) deactivated the siren. If your remote fob has a PANIC button…you can also try activating it to see if you can get the siren to work. There’s instructions in the owners manual (paper version and digital version embedded in iDrive).

Yes, it the flashing red LED in the rear-view mirror. I'll check the key for the panic button. Thanks for the pointers.

See info below from the owners manual on how to activate the panic mode. It takes a longer push & hold…or 3 presses in a row:
