Stupid design - Inner headlights are dummies!?
it seems our non-lighting-pkg X5 doesn't have the true dual Bi-Xenons headlights. The inner headlights are dummies.
Does anyone make them working or converting to the true headlights? BMW no longer uses it as the cornering light or flashing light, IMO, this looks so dumb. This is another reason to go for LED. :thumb down Note: I usually don't post the same question in the multiple forums. Please bear with me. I really want to know how to mod this. Thanks. |

I was thinking of installing another low beam in there but I have yet to see the inner workings of the headlights Im waiting on a demo set for me to mess with off ebay if I win the bid.

Hi Baunton
In the UK, it is different if you have LED lights (which I do). On the Xenon setup, the outer two headlights are operational for both low and high beams. For the LED setup, all four headlights are operational. For the low beam setting, the upper half of each of the four headlights are on. For high beam, both the upper and lower half of each of the four headlights are on. Each of the four headlights move independantly in the X and Y axes depending on steering angle and if there are other cars in the road ahead (anti dazzle). Hope that helps Cheers P |

I hate BMW doesn't want to indicate or say this clearly, so ppl can make the better choice/decision. Maybe more ppl are willing to option for Lighting pkg after knowing this fact. This sucks. |

Baunton, BMW CA said nothing when I ordered mine. I actually didn't know this until seeing the video below, so I went to check mine HID. I thought it's like the same old BMW. Now the cornering light is using the fog light. I saw this 50i with LED has the this beautiful. (Around 8:00) |
