Nice. I also like the tri-color grill look. Just ordered some of these.

Did my own before, it held up a few track days perfectly.

If you guys are on the fence pulling the trigger on a similar setup, hit up PYSpeed.com ... They might get creative for end of year sales. These takes 5 weeks from order to arrival to your door step, just in time for snow. The quality and finish are top notch.

Tell Eric that Jimmy sent you.

I use a heat gun and squeegee. Good prep is key, wipe down with alcohol before applying the vinyl.

Did you get your tri-colored vinyl yet? Mine is shipping from China, long boat ride.

Hey Jimmy - looks great. I've been debating the OEM 20" option but after reading a bit more I'm not sure I want to be plowing around on the scorpion dedicated snow tires for 4 or 5 months, with the poor handling that it sounds like they provide. The RS41s look awesome, and the much larger 315 year and staggered tires provide a better look as well. A couple questions - have you had a chance to check the handling yet? Is it comparable or reasonable compared to the stock 21" OEM PSS? I imagine you'll always lose a bit compared to any Summer tire...

Also, since I'm new to this vehicle and BMW, is the rotational diameter similar enough to stock to not throw codes? Did you do the install yourself? Same lug bolts? I can swap the wheels myself, but have had some issues in the past with ordering custom wheels (they were balanced but the weights fell off in transit, then had to visit the local tire shack and watch them like hawks so they wouldn't destroy the 6K wheels...). Did you have the tires and TPMS installed locally?

Lotsa questions! thanks again - Jon

All seasons DWS06 handles pretty well for the winter, a lot better than pure summer or pure winter when it's cold. It's not even a comparison when dried and warm to summers. The MPSS is stiffer and bites more during hard cornering. However, I haven't experience much sliding with the DWS06 in hard turns and acceleration.

The tires and TPMS were mounted by my BMW dealer. OEM lug nuts were used. As for tire diameter, it's the same as stock X5. It's technically the same tire size as the E70/F15 X5 with staggers 20s - same rotation diameter front and rear. No code issues at all.

Have you tried the Pirelli winter performance tires? They handle awesome for a winter tire and im sure BMW supplies the winter wheel package with Pirelli winter performance tires for a reason. Whatever they are giving up in handling they more than gain in winter snow/ice traction. I have driven the DWS extensively and while they handle snow with ease they are not so great on ice or packed snow where the true winter tires with softer rubber and tread siping will grab the ice much better. In tire rack testing it took the DWS 49 feet to stop from 12mph on ice versus 34feet for the Pirelli tire that's a big difference basically the length of the truck for every 12mph.

True winter tires only last 12k miles and they're very noisy. For me, the DWS is good enough in an AWD. I've traveled from KC to Vail many times with my E70 X5 with DWS, I'm confident the DWS06 is more than enough for my need in the X5M. DWS lasted more than 40k miles and is super quiet.

I know my stopping distance could be better with true winter tires. Using caution to slow down an X5 with DWS, I haven't had any issues even going down a steep hill and the Rockies.

It depends on where you live, most people in KC don't even switch out their tires in the winter. I don't want to have too much of a stopping advantage over them, because they will just plow right into me if I'm not aware of slippage during braking. So in a way, I don't want to stop faster than other idiots on the road. The DWS06 is king of all-seasons for the winter and good enough for Midwest area.

I will post a review of the DWS06 once some heavy snow hits.

KC received freezing rain, then topped off with 3" of snow + 18 lows. I'm happy to report the DWS06 performs flawless as expected on unplowed roads. My X5M rolls around like a tank, climbing steep hills in my neighborhood and stops very well. I highly recommend DWS06 if you don't want true winter tires.

Photos coming soon.

Temperatures here on the East coast are still in the 50s! No snow for us yet. Will probably install my Winters next week.

BC Forged nailed the offset. It's perfect, probably just the angle of the photo. It's just 10mm more aggressive than stock, which is less aggressive than OEM wheels with 15mm spacers.

See close up rear shot below.

Lucky... We're in sub freezing the rest of the week. I have to find an unplowed parking lot to play later.

She's so dirty.

In my experience that's not true. My Nokian winters (studless) are extremely quiet and the treadwear seems very good.
But I will say your winter set up looks excellent.
