I'm getting my car re-detailed again because the coating the dealer used is having a weird reaction. Going to do a stage one polish with Gtechniq coating and getting windows tinted 18%.

Does anyone else have this on their shadow trim?

Are those swirl marks in the trim? Hard to tell from the pic.

Edit - also, which "flavor" of Gtechniq are you having applied?

No, it is vertical stains in the trim.

I am not sure, they have two different kinds, I'll ask them.

Edit:

It is called C2 V3 liquid crystal.

Ouch - never seen that type of reaction from any of my cars. What did they use? Looks like it may have too caustic for the trim.

I'm also having no the C2 V3 applied now. Will post pics once it's completed. I've had it before on other vehicles and always had really good results.

Yes, please let us know. I've been given estimates for the C1 and the EXO treatments, both individually and "stacked." I haven't heard anything about C2 V3. I'll have to ask my guy about this. Mine is getting wrapped (XPEL) and coated next week. I'm looking for swirl protection and gloss. It will be interesting to see what I hear.

Has anyone done 22ple?

How much of a wrap are you doing? I'm tempted to do a full wrap but it's like $6k and they keep the car for a week...

I'm going to second this. Mine is still stained to this day and we just saw each other's vehicles this weekend. This is occur each time a certain wax or sealant is applied to the trim itself.

I'm going to do what they call the Track Pack: full hood, bumpers, lights, fenders, fender flares, door handle inserts, mirror covers, A pillars, front roof strip, rocker panels, rear bumper guards.

I figure those are the areas that are most likely to get damage from rock chips and road debris. For that coverage, it will cost between $1500-$2500, depending on the shop.

For the rest of the car, I will go with just getting the paint corrected and a ceramic coating (most likely, GTechniq). Not much protection against rocks and stuff, but will help against swirl marks and fine lines. It will also add to the shine and gloss of the paint. We'll see.

Cquartz, Gtechniq, Opticoat, and any other coating are all different when it comes to layering on quick wax/detailer. I like the Crystal Seal because you can coat a whole car less than 15 mins, but you can layer quick wax over it, and the coating gets a boost.

Seattle has two premium detailers; Metropolitan Detail and Northwest Auto Salon. Metropolitan Detail uses 22PLE and NWAS uses Gtechniq. 22PLE needs to be baked on and cured, while Gtechniq doesn't need to be.
22PLE won't be ruined by wax. It doesn't need to be baked on and cured either. Ive been installing 22PLE for 5-6 years now and I've never had any issues with wax or curing etc. I've tested many many coatings and I choose to represent 22PLE because of how amazing the coating is.

I had Modesta BC04 and BC05 coating on my Lamborghini but also had a full paint correction.

I think where you guys are seeing a difference is that there is a difference between a detail and a paint correction, very few do an actual paint correction. I have an X5M on order and will probably do the Modesta again at Immaculate Essence here in Portland with a full paint correction.

The picture of my Lambo doesn't do the car justice with how good it looks.
They just took a Estoril Blue M3 in for paint correction and Modesta.

Typically for Modesta prices start at a minimum of $1,500 and then go up from there depending on size of vehicle and work required, but a typical NEW CAR will require 30-40 hours of paint correction. A detail is just a wax and some light polishing, a paint correction is full wet sanding, paint meter to ensure every area is perfect depth and so much more.
