X5M 2016 - No adaptive cruise control?
Title is the question. I am surprised the x5m has no adaptive cruise control. Am I missing it in my build? Can anyone confirm that there is no adpative cruise control? (shocked face)

Lack of space on the steering wheel for the follow distance buttons is the latest reason I heard from M GmbH. M1 and M2 buttons take up the positions that would be used for the distance controls. Silly, since there would be other ways to make this happen - and it's available on performance vehicles from MB and Audi.
I miss this feature from my F15.

to be honest, the M buttons could live somewhere else. by the center console performance buttons, for example.

My dealer said it's because there's not enough space to include the camera system in the front.
I was really disappointed because before buying the X5M I considered buying an X5M50d and this option was available ... |

No active seat, either. I don't miss this as much, but did like it my 550 and M5.

I think I am deciding to go with the 16 GLE63s (suv not coup) with adaptive and more general comfort ride. Honestly it was a coin toss between the two cars, and I think i'd be equally happy with both. But on my way into manhattan after a 3.5 hour drive from Vermont, the adaptive is soooo nice sitting in traffic so i dont have to hover my foot above the brake nonstop.
Wish I was joining the M club though. This is a really great / active forum. |

Good choice - really can't go wrong with either the BMW or the Merc. I cross-shopped the the GLE when I got my car; loved most things about it, but the interior just didn't sit well with me (feels outdated). Truly subjective, obviously. The fact that Merc is releasing the new E-class next year was also a consideration - they likely will be refreshing the GLE shortly after.

I'd personally find it really difficult to move to a car without it.
I spend about an hour each way in traffic driving to work daily and it's a godsend. |

Had it in my past 7 series and only used it once, it's cool tech and all but I just enjoy pressing the pedal myself more.

I get the whole performance car argument, but the X5M doesn't really fit that category. It has the potential to be all things to all people, or at least to me... |

It was an awesome car. Quiet, fast (very fast for its size), excellent build quality and very luxurious. Where it falls short of the X5M, however, is the handling. It handled really well, but the X feels more composed and responsive in the corners. Enough so that I am debating if I really want to buy a second car for "fun" driving or if this is sufficient. Frankly I feel like the X simply told Newton to take his laws and stuff them... Still, either car is an excellent choice and you'll be more than happy. |
