Good times, getting off of the line has to be an issue.
Regarding adapting remember with all tunes you will not adaptation time. Ideally if the car is in good conditions, etc you will be better off. The most important thing is going through natural driving cycles. We saw this in PR this weekend where the mechanics removed a manifold and did not re-install properly on an M4 we tuned (ECU Tune), after correcting the error (car was driven this way for over an hour) it took several 1/2 mile passes before the vehicle was normal again meaning vehicles can also adapt negatively. After tuning the vehicle drive normal for a few days with a few spirited pulls for best adaption. |

If getting too much wheel spin off the line I would experiment with your methods. Other than launch RPM I would also try launching the car in 2nd gear. The benefit of that is that second gear is taller and the torque multiplier will drop at the rear wheels and should eliminate or reduce wheel spin. This should make you faster.
Driving around the water box is tricky at ATCO and it's easy to end up getting some water on the tires as you try to stage. The wheel spin may be attributed to that on some of the runs. Next time you go I will try to go and get a look at what is going on. If you are getting water on the tires (likely); set up like you are going to do a burn out and do a faux launch and then back up and stage like normal. This will get any wet tires that want to spin out the way before you run. I would do this in my 2wd cars even when I wasn't doing a burn out just to make sure the tires were clean and dry. You will have time to do this as the car next to you is probably doing a burn out anyway. If you are unsure of the technique I am referring to here we can talk when I see you on Saturday.

That is one seriously fast truck!
As others have said, work on finding the best launch RPM. Focus on cutting those 60ft. times down. Don't worry about your reaction time at a test & tune...unless, of course, you cut a perfect light. Then you can brag to all of your friends. With some work on those 60ft times your X5M will be VERY fast and consistent. Not bad for your first time out; looks like you had fun! This thread over on SVTPerformance has some good info for people that are new to drag racing. Some of it is geared towards older Mustang Cobras, but most of it is just good general advice. (Mods, I hope I'm not breaking the rules posting that link...sorry!) |

Impressive times the X5M is no joke. Glad to see such a great performance improvement from the Dinan tune. I've yet to run my F80 M3 some of us jersey guys should get a track day in soon.

Atco is closed for the season, so we'll have to plan something for the Spring!

At 35k miles the water pump went out on mine. I watched it leave off the side of the road on a flat bed tow truck while sitting in the front seat of Steve's X5M with my nose and hands pressed up against the glass. A week later I got it back and they tell me in passing that they went ahead and replaced the Supercharger because it was making a bunch of noise.. At 35k miles? I think I am ok now. I've had the Pope bless the truck while he was in town a couple months ago and I say a prayer each time before I leave on a trip. |

LC is very useful on a AWD car. RWD is a different story unless you use half or full slick tire.

BMW assumes Americans are bad drivers, including restricted MDM for the U.S. And I would say BMW is right... A driver's license test in the U.S. is a joke compared to European countries. Example, most driver license test in the U.S don't require highway driving assessment which makes up 80% of American's daily commute.
