I ended up stopping the installation video repeatedly until I was certain which way the ribbon had to be inserted into the pcb connector.

I knew how it is supposed to go and still checked it three times. Thought that was a dicey part of the install.

3am install got the best of me, I offset one pin so it went to a blank on the other side of the connector (3 pin connector, 2 pins) fixing that resolved the needing to press start/stop 3x.

Engine still doesn't turn off on unlock, and hitting trunk 3x to turn off engine doesn't work and shows the can't start without error key on dash while its running.

Reviewed all wiring again (just by color not by location), and updated support waiting to hear back. It's possible I oofed somewhere again, but waiting to hear back from support before I start pulling connectors again.

Gotta say, support is amazing. Literally within 10 minutes of submitting a ticket I got a reply of what pins I should check and they were accurate.

Will update what happens next.

I'm still occasionally having to press the stop 3 times to stop the engine. Everything else works perfectly. I double checked all the wiring. I guess I can triple check this part. Do you remember which colors/which harness adapter this part was?

Why are you needing to stop the engine after remote starting so often?

If you confirmed wiring, its probably defective. I suspect they will be sending me a 3rd replacment now.

I think he is saying the car is not turning it self off when he opens the door, and has to hit the stop/start 3x for it to turn off (I had same issue). He has a defective unit most likely assuming pins 45&49 are correctly wired.

The car will turn off when I open the door or press the trunk button 3 times. My issue is after driving and shutting off the car, I have to press the engine stop button 3 times for the car to turn off. Bimmertech told me to send them pictures of those pins. Thanks for confirming I'll triple check those. Thanks.

Oh so the car no longer shuts off after driving from the start/stop button. Crazy!

Another user error! (I'm on a roll now...) everything was wired up properly but the connector taking what was in the original pin 45 and pin 49 connecting to the wiring harness wasn't pushed in all the way.

It is not surprising the purchase price of these aftermarket devices is sky-high. I suspect there are frequent instances of installation errors which cost this company time & money to support. Essentially, they are dropping a highly technical procedure into the lap of who knows and hoping things go smoothly.

We are probably lucky they are willing to sell retail, at all.

Well that’s one reason why the forum exists. To help each other out. Not poke fun at them for even trying. No big deal if they made a mistake. Glad he got to the solution as this will help others down the line. Plus as they say. Any publicity is good publicity. Lol

Agreed. And I should compliment the poster for uncovering the error. Well done.

The other side of it is that I know firsthand what an outstanding job those guys did creating top-noch documentation and videos.

It’s gotta be tough to make a buck in the aftermarket.

Yeah a portion of their issues are definitely user error, wish I had such luck lol. After market on these cars is definitely not an easy process especially when interacting with the computer systems.

Just installed and works perfect so far. Started right up and turned off after pressing trunk 3x.

Love when a plan comes together. Was very happy with how easy this was compared to my M5. Half as many wires.

Hardest parts:
1) carpet doesn’t give you much space
2) literally last pin didn’t want to come out. Took me 20 min alone because it was the last pin and my hand was cramping pretty easy. Finally got it though.
