Out of hand? Lol never!

I'm wondering how much this whole transformation is costing you and how much the equivalent job would cost for me in Canada, seems like everything is so much pricier where I live.

Collecting opinions on "whiting out" fender black vents.
They're bolted on from inside and did not want to remove fender just to remove them!

Those "plastic" side vents in front of front door. They typically carry the M logo, although some cars do not have them at all.

Those are not screwed from inside.
On X5M it is plastic welded from inside, but most ended up just using 3M double sided tape.
So, on the regular F15 X5, just use the 3M double sided tape.

I just got my new shipment on gloss black without badge indentation yesterday.

Hmm..am trying to remove them.....but body shop guy told me that something is holding them from inside, after he tried to pull it out.

I have those fender vents, are you saying my fenders are from X5M model which has different fenders than F15...or that the fender vents are similar to the X5M model, than the F15s?

F15 X5 and F85 X5M shares a lot of the same parts. Even the fender, except the F85 X5M fender have holes for the alignment and securing the trim (by plastic weld).
So, pretty much there is no point for you to change the fender since they are the same. Even between M Sport and non M Sport F15 X5.

oh no, I won't.
Just wanted to remove those vents, but I was told they were bolted from inside, so it's too much work to remove them.
Then I wondered whether I should white them out.

If it is on your original fender, most likely it is double sided tape.
I don't think anyone will spend enough time and effort to take off the fender and put screws from behind.

Post a picture of your fender, let me see which one that you have. Do a close up picture too, I should be able to tell the difference.
Also, maybe try heating it up with heat gun before prying it off.

I’d give it a go. Body colored fender vent trims could look subtle and unique on an X5. I think the BMW sedans and coups that sport that look are sharp.

Also, your whip is coming together nicely...thanks for sharing your project with the rest of us!

fitment on the replica front lip looks pretty good. If I destroy my OEM I might have to pick up whichever replica that is.

Best of luck on the exhaust tips. I've seen posts where people cut off their oem tips to powdercoat and weren't able to get them lined back up again. I'm assuming it will be just as difficult, if not more difficult to get those cayenne tips to line up correctly.

Thanks!

Currently at mechanic, lots of challenges, with welding and angling pipes.

Added a couple of pictures from one that's done
