So, that means that I could switch it from my F30d to my F15 whenever I want?
Yes.

Once again Ben and Violator don't disappoint. Installed mine this week and all I can say is wow. My truck is a completely different animal and way more fun to drive. Really livens it up and the N55 engine feels more aggressive.

I see. Someone else asked this but I really want to do a bm3 flash tune, but I like the idea of throttle response being quicker with this xlr chip, can I stack
Those?

Yes, you can stack them.
I don't think BM3 remap your gas pedal.

Even if it does, you won't be able to change it on the fly.
You'll have to pull over, plug in a computer and change the map, etc.

I have both BM3 and RC XLR stacked on a sDrive 35i (RC set to R) and it has been the perfect companion for the stage 1 tune BM3 offers. My butt dyno "feels the tune" when in comfort mode with RC set to "R", as without the RC the tune wasn't that noticeable unless in sport mode. Definitely recommend it if getting the BM3 as I didn't find a way to remap it when playing with the tunes parameters.

So when I asked racechip they said that they're sure that they can be used across different platforms with the same motor. They gave me the "we're not sure" for different motors. I was asking them about moving from a 535i to a 50i. Have you seen that work?

The butt dyno is the only dyno that matters in my opinion

What's up violator, I see it says you have the mppk with the gts black chipped stacked with the xlr, I was wondering if it's ok to stack my bm3 with the gts black? I just ordered the xlr foe throttle response, but I would like more power without going stage 2

You don't want to stack a piggyback and a flash tune.. they'd be fighting each other. I'd sell the GTS and go to stage 2 BM3.

EDIT: Just noticed you said you don't want to go stage 2 🤪

Yes I do and so do many others on here. I’m not sure about the BM3 since I’ve never had that tune.
Maybe Ben/ r33_RGSport knows someone who stacked those together and can offer some advice.

Is the app control that you can buy with the XLR the same app that you can get with the GTS Black? Or do you have to buy both apps?

Same app, but have to purchase the units with app control.

Ah, thanks, so too late with my GTS Black then lol. Not to worry, I am the sort of person that plays with it non-stop for a few days and then never touches it again haha!

Thanks to those who have posted pics of the install, very useful! I will be getting the XLR for Christmas from my wife, and since she drives the X5 occasionally having the manual controller installed will be better for her so she can dial it down. Can't wait for this

I don't know anyone that stack RaceChip on top of BM3.
I don't understand the point of doing so though, since BM3 can be set beyond the OE limit already.

While MPPK stacked RaceChip is different story, because MPPK is how the N55 was tuned for, but then guys in BMW marketing says "hey, why don't we tune it down, and sell it as an option by calling it MPPK".

RaceChip XLR w/app control to be stacked onto the RaceChip GTS Black w/app control.

The install is very simple and easy, difficulty level 1. You’ll need a T30 and a T20 to complete the install. You really only need a T30, the T20 is optional. It can be done in 15-20 minutes easily.

It is also a great opportunity to clean in places you normally don’t. No matter how clean you are, there is some dirt hiding under/around the pedal!

Since I purchased the model with app control, there is no need to install the controller. I chose not to install it, I’ll just use the app.

I tested all 7 settings with the RC GTS Black turned off, then all 7 with it turned on and in Race mode.
There are 2 Eco modes, I don’t ever use Eco mode and couldn’t notice any difference in the pedal response.
You notice a difference when you start using the Sport mode.
In the end, I prefer the XLR in Race and the GTS Black in Race mode, with the X5 in Sport. The performance is unreal.

I used the T20 to remove the panel and route the wire. I placed the module inside the panel where the brake pedal comes out of.

Vehicle: F15 35i xDrive with MPE, MPPK, RC GTS Black and RC XLR.
Well so far not so good with RaceChip. I bought an XLR for Black Friday and it appears that they sent me a used one! When I first opened it up I was suspicious because the brain box wasn't mounted in it's spot with the controller. I figured oh well I'm sure it'll be fine. So I installed it just like you did and went out to test it. From what all of you have said it's a really noticeable difference but either the unit didn't work or XLR's only make a really subtle difference. If I have a working unit it should be a clear difference right?

Not to defend RaceChip even though I am working closely with them.

But, believe it or not, that part of the box doesn't hold up the module very well.
Especially during shipment.

As far as if it is working or not, you should notice a great difference.
Especially if you are on Race+.

I just received and installed the RC XLR last week, and the brain box in my package had also slipped out from its designated spot. I agree it is not a very good first impression, especially when it seems everyone is designing packaging in the over-engineered Apple style. My experience after installation mirrored everyone else's, however; when the X5 is in Comfort mode and the XLR is set to "Sport" the pedal response feels like having the X5 in Sport mode without the XLR. This is without any engine performance coding, stacking, flashing or piggybacking (yet). For me, the XLR is working as advertised. I haven't tried the Race settings yet - maybe tomorrow!

I'm pretty sure these are used because the cable shielding was out on mine too. Well that's good that yours worked at least. Hopefully they do the right thing and I don't have to pay shipping back to Germany.
