Bridgestone or Conti or Dunlop or Pirelli?
We need to replace the tires on my wife's 2014 X5 with upgraded 20" rims. She has Dunlop from the factory on the car now but we need to get new tires.
Our local dealership is offering 4 tires for the price of 3 with free installation. The tires all seem to be in the same ballpark of around $1350 - $1450 out the door. We live in Austin, TX, so it is pretty much summer all year round. Any strong guidance towards one set of tires or even steer clear of another would be helpful. Our choices are: - Bridgestone Dueler H/P RFT - Continental Sport Contact 5 SSR - Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT DSST - Pirelli PZero RFT I believe the Continental and Pirelli are the only two from the dealer with road hazard warranty for first year and within 2/32 of tire tread. Thanks in advance for your feedback. |

Check the program - see if it is less expensive to buy from tirerack and have someone install. it was here when i compared prices by a lot! BMW is assuming you pay their price for tires and install.

Good point. I've checked Tire Rack, Costco, and Discount Tires. Surprisingly, this particular promotion at the dealership's pricing is a few hundred dollars cheaper. So now its a question of which tires to buy?

I had Conti on my 2014 - they lasted 36k miles and had more left, but they developed a, whump whump whoump around 20K. Also the shoulder of the tires were soft and feathered quickly. Put exact replacements on at 36K along with an alignment and within 5 months they feathered again.
My 2017 has Pirelli and I'm a big fan thus far (5.5k) |

I just put the Conti DWS 06's on about a month ago and so far so good. I can feel the difference between the Goodyear LS RFT's that were on the X5 stock. Again, so far I like the Conti's.

I saw the same promotion at the dealership this week. Definitely sounds like a good deal. I've had the Bridgestones and the Pirellis. The former rode a bit harsher, the latter a bit smoother. But they wore out so fast. Very soft tire.

Seems like Pirelli's were the way to go. Sadly, I didn't wait to see the feedback. I ended up with a set of Bridgestones, but think I got a great deal at $1100 out the door.
I'll have to be more patient with survey feedback as in endeavor to figure out what to do for 2015 M4. I'm leaning Michelin Pilot Super Sport 4. |

Same here, loved the Deulers on my E70. Much better than the Pirelli’s I replaced them with.

I have a 3rd row E70, and even with that limitation, I only carry the spare on road trips in the trunk and there's ample room for it with my stuff: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=929982 Hope this helps. I'm not sure why you'll want to carry the spare with you everywhere you go, but then again I live in an urban area and if I run into issues in my urban area (not on a road trip), my plan has always been I'll uber home first and figure the rest out later. Most of the time, I'll have kids in the car, so there's no way I'm subjecting them and myself to the time of installing a compact spare while I'm only 5 miles away from home.
