Adding oil....

Had to add a quart today. 6500 miles on the odometer and got a low oil warning. Haven't seen spots in the garage. Anyone else have to add?

Burning oil. It's normal.

What kind of break-in did you do?

BMW recommended break in. I assumed it was burning. Just wondering if others were as well.

Same thing happened to me too! Apparently it's normal, don't worry about it.

Normal depending on how you drive. My M4 and M5 both asked for more oil every 3500 miles or so!

You did have an oil change at 10k miles, right? Oil changes are recommended every 10k miles, so you technically added oil after 4k miles.

My oil light came on last night. 4,300 miles, added 1qt. It's normal for the N63 (unlike the N55/S55, I didn't have to worry about adding oil). I hope Burger Tuning comes out with an oil catch can solution. I'm sure some of the oil is going through the intake.

no - the break-in service was done after 5000km - no additional oil change done/required afterwards - BC tells me 8000km to go for next oil change...

This would then be in total around 25000km with the same oil...

Update:

Break-In Service naturally is after 2000km...
so it would be around 28000km with same oil...

That's amazing !

I had the oil changed at 2000 km (after the breakin period) , as recommended by BMW.
I had to add 1 liter at 12 000 km , not sure about the km ...

That's pretty good. In the U.S., all 2015+ BMWs now have 10k miles oil change intervals. It was 15k miles in the past.
