F15/2015 Bluetooth Low Volume
I have an iPhone 6S and native Music App worked very well for playback via bluetooth until a couple of weeks ago, and the volume started to go up/down for some reason. Now it's considerably softer than radio. I tried to play the same song,
1) Radio 2) mp3 from music collection stored on HDD 3) mp3 from iPhone via bluetooth 1) and 2) are at equivalent volume level, while 3) is about 15%- 25% lower compared 1) or 2). By 15% - 25% I'm referring to the volume progress bar on display. I made sure there were no other bluetooth devices in the car that may potentially interfere with the main connection. Same result. There was an old post http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=947920, but doesn't seem to help with my problem |

Did you make sure the volume is turned all the way up on your phone while playing a track over Bluetooth? You didn't mention it so I'm guessing that may be your issue. It does matter and will impact your audio output significantly.

The volume on your device has to be turned up to max when using Bluetooth. USB generally makes no difference.

I have a somewhat similar issue. Every time when i get in the car and my iphone connects to it i am guessing in which mood my car is. Is Bluetooth is going to be very quite and i will need to crank up volume almost all the way up, to be able to hear, or in fact volume will be normal and calls will be loud enough with volume in the car to be around 2/3... Volume of the Bluetooth on a phone itself is a constant and never changes.

Thanks for responses. I did make sure that the volume of iPhone was turned to the maximum before comparing playing same song from different sources.
As a matter of fact, I remember that volume change on iPhone when connected to car couldn't be changed in earlier version of iOS. And it is available to be changed recently The only thing I haven't done is to change to a different iPhone to see the difference. Will report back when get a chance Now I need to make a case to BMW services. Is there a software that I can use to provide some quantitative evidence in terms of dB? there is an iOS app "Measure", it might give me some numbers |

You could also make sure that your volume limiter isn't activated on your iPhone.
Settings-->Music-->Volume Limit All out of ideas if this doesn't work.

Same here though I don't think it's a fault. I think the system is actually designed that way to compensate for the volume controls on the sending device and to make sure that you don't get your ears blown off when the bluetooth connects at full volume.
Not a big deal, I just turn the volume back up when I connect to BT. It seems like Radio, USB, and bluetooth all maintain separate volume settings. |

You said things were working fine up until a couple weeks ago, right? What changed, whether car was updated/coded or app/OS updates on your phone?

Do you still get audio notifications (text, email, etc) over bluetooth, or even from the iPhone itself once you're in the car? I have the iPhone 6 I think and once I'm in the car, I receive no audio notifications - for example if I get a text message or an email, the phone only vibrates. The bluetooth connection to the car seems to circumvent the audio notifications. I asked the BMW genius at the dealer if he knew what the story was and just thought Android pairs better, but didn't have a solution for me. Anyone?
