X5 N55 Fuel Injector Leak --Troubleshooting--

Good Morning,

This weekend, I received the "drivetrain malfunction drive moderately" error pop up on the way home from an errand. Drove a few miles like this and when I pulled into the garage there was a pretty heavy odor coming from the car.

After pulling the codes and investigating the misfires (on Cyl 2 and 4) it would appear the injector on cylinder 2 has gone wrong. As I pulled the spark plug (fouled) the injector kept spraying fuel into the port even after disconnecting the battery. Cylinder 4 checked out okay, the spark plug appeared fine and the injector acted accordingly.

I ordered a new injector and misc parts along with a new spark plug (only one as the other five were replaced very recently). I did not have the ability to do any in depth testing of the car. My version of ISTA+ didn't seem to want to run any tests on the injectors so I'm going to try to up my version in the next few days for something more current.

It appears to me that the injector is the root cause of this but I wanted to post for a sanity check. Please let me know if there is something else I should consider. Ultimately, I know it's possible other things could be wrong but with the injector acting like it did leads me to believe this is the cause.

Also, if anyone has any links to the latest and greatest of ISTA+, that would be great.

Thanks

Well.... for those that might find this useful in the future. Replaced the spark plug and fuel injector, re-calibrated the fuel injector with ISTA+, reset the DME adaptations, and all is good.
