Saw the f90 M5 IRL for the first time ...

I must say ... meh.

And for $125k? I don't think so.

I respect all the engineering that goes into these cars but I'm sorry for 125k you'll have to try just a little bit harder to make your product look more passionate.

This is like someone telling an amazing story with zero facial expressions.

I agree. For $125k, you can buy so much more. The M5 does look very bland. Hell, you could buy a neon yellow Aston Martin and really turn some heads for that price. IMO, that’s about a $75k car.

When I had my Corvette and people asked how much I paid, (60k), everyone was shocked. When you tell people how much you paid for your 5 series, they'll probably laugh.

I'm considering the M5 as my next car but it has to be a more unique color. No grey, white, black, etc.

Preowned and a funky color. Let some other sucker take the hit on the $125k.

Hard to tell the color because it's so filthy! It's an M5!! It should be pristine and in the showroom.

I think the car looks great. When I was looking for a sports car a few years back, I just wanted a sports car and didn't need/want the utility of a sedan, especially with 4 doors. Didn't warm to the M6 either.

I’ve never liked the M6. Or the M5, actually. I think the only ones I’d consider would be the M3, M4, or X5M.

I'm with you on that. I was tempted a bit by the x5m but I now have a proper sports car and wanted a bit more practicality that I think the f15 50i provides while still being a beast.

Don't disagree. For that money, would like to have something that looks different from any other 5-series out there.

Most people can tell the difference between the plain Jane Porsche 911 and the top dawg... Porsche has no problem selling either and any between. I suspect BMW will not have an issue selling these as well.

They’re just too long or something. I don’t know what it is. And the owners always seem like they may also have a Corvette lol.

I agree with the long part. It's the hood, and at times looks awkwardly long. Reminds me of a shark. The same can be said for the SLS AMG and the AMG GT. Both lovely cars, but the same long hood design.

Ha I always say it looks like a shark. Or like one of those torpedo things you used to throw around in the pool.

But even as a BMW homer, the AMG GT looks wayyyyy better.

My wife has a 6-series Gran Coupe. I had to meausure the garage to make sure it would fit inside. It’s definitely a very long car.

Have to disagree with you on the styling, one of the best things about the M5 since it first originated is that its a sleeper car, with only little changes like the bumpers, and number of exhaust pipes from the original, but all the difference in the world can be felt behind the wheel.

I agree with you when I first saw the M5 from certain angles I could not tell whether it is an M5 or regular 5 ... but I got hammered from the M5 fanboys for saying so no like the F80 where you can distinguish it running through the roads of your next door city and as someone said before the hit on two years dep would be extraordinary about $40K or more

This is why I used to love Audi. Their S/RS line up so very subtle and not brash in anyway. The S8 hardly different than it's A8 counterpart. The RS4 with a bit more noticeable difference than the plain Jane A4 but again very subtle. E39 M5 by far one of my favorite cars of all time and regret selling (twice). Completely understated and conservative. A true contemporary classic. Fast forward to present day and it is why I like Range Rover and what BMW did with the F85. Outside of a slightly different front and rear bumper it was virtually no different to the average person on the road than a V6RR or F15 M-Sport especially when I remove the badges. I do not buy these things to show people how good I am at wasting money but for myself so the less it stands out the better for me.

+1 ... same for me ... love my DG F85 and will be ordering a DG F90CP next year .... I buy it for what it does ... not for how it stands out ... I want it to stand out as little as possible
