Glossy or Satin M-Performance CF Lip

Hi gang,

Trying to decide whether I want to wrap the CF lip in the usual glossy XPel film or go with the Stealth which would give it a satin look. It will be on an Alpine White.

I haven't seen any examples of people doing this and my concern is that the satin look won't mesh well with the rest of the glossy paint.

Here's an example of what Xpel stealth looks like on a CF spoiler.

What do you guys think?

I love the satin look but it depends on the color of the vehicle to me. I think it looks best on light colored vs dark but I still like it regardless

It's going on an Alpine white.

satin is nice but I voted glossy to match the other black accents on the car

Well, looks like glossy still has the lead! I think I'll go with my original plan for glossy. The PPF shop also mentioned that Stealth doesn't adhere as well as Xpel ultimate so recommended to go with Ultimate.

I'll run it with just the PPF for awhile then decide on whether I want to wrap in gloss black vinyl later on to change things up.

I received a bunch of different quotes for the PPF and decided to go with a shop that quoted $150 that does a lot of PPF.

Why would you go satin when you have glossy grills and mirrors!!

Just for the hell of it. Thought maybe the bit of contrast might be an interesting look and my summer wheels have a satin look to them so figured there might be some alignment in theme. But you are right, most of the trim is glossy so it's probably the better bet.

I may even just vinyl wrap it gloss black after the PPF so that it fully matches the rest of the gloss black accents. I'm not ultimately a fan of the CF look but there really aren't any options for front lips that aren't the M-Perf lip.

Yes, I feel you on the carbon fiber, seems every car mod nowadays has to be in carbon fiber. I similarly thought that when mine gets damaged I can paint it gloss black. I paid $1200+ for it, so might as well enjoy the carbon finish first

If you think about it pretty funny that a 5000 LB truck, has carbon fiber accessories

I would have definitely taken a cheaper PP/PUR version if it was available OEM. I've seen GFK versions on e-bay but didn't want to deal with fitment issues.

Well, can't have these accessories adding even more weight!

I am impressed with how light it is and the finish on it looks fantastic. Did you end up installing with beta-link or did you use 3m tape?

Never use 3m on the front. It simply won't hold with air pressure/time. Do the job well the first time with beta-link.

Dont be like me this is my 3rd or 4th install and Ended up buying two OEM front splitters. The first one went down on me one windy night on the highway.. terrible experience.

My vote is in. Get 'er done! Plus the glossy will fit in nicely with beautiful PNW summers AND the 9 months of wet weather!

Thanks for the feedback. I did buy some OEM automotive grade 3M (not sold off the shelf) but sounds like beta-link is still the better way to go. I do still need to figure out how I can trim back some of the PPF on the bumper so I can mount the brackets and sides of the lip. I don't think it's going to adhere well to the PPF.

haha good ol PNW rain and gloom. At least it'll look less dirty by starting off glossy.
