Stealth Hitch?

Has anyone tried a Stealth Hitch brand for their F15 with M-sport? How's the quality? How about DIY install?

That’s a new one to me.
I’ve been using an INVISIHITCH for over a year with excellent results. Best hitch for our F15s!

I'm also wondering about the Stealth Hitch and had the exact same questions. The price seems very reasonable but then you have to install yourself or find a local shop that can do it. I've gotten the name of a few shops but haven't called them yet to get an install price quote.

I do not plan to tow anything. I only want the hitch so that I can install a hitch-mount bike rack a few times a year. While I like the way the OEM roof rack looks, I've heard too many complaints about the noise. That, and I do not want to risk damaging the roof while loading/unloading bikes.

Stealth Hitch sells a rack only option. However, I believe one would still need to purchase the wiring harness to disable the rear parking sensors when the rack is installed.

Anyone know if the rear sensors can be disabled manually (ie. without installing a wiring harness)?

I believe that someone (owners?) at invisahitch had a falling out a while back and stealth hitch is the result. Don't know any details regarding the new stealth hitch though.

It appears similar, need to see one up close to compare.
Pricing is comparable based on what’s listed. Did not see OEM modules offered.
Should anyone in Northern California have one let me know, would like to compare.

I’m going with the invisihitch. Per the owner no cutting is required to clear the m Sport rear bumper.

Their website doesnt say anything about M Sport bumpers and the fact it may or may not fit. That concerns me, otherwise I'd be all over this and save $$$

I just hung up with Steve in tech support. He gave a wealth of information. Company just started in June 2016 in Atlanta; said F15 is their #1 seller. The hitch sounds very impressive and although he didn't say so, it sounds pretty much the same as invisihitch. He confirmed it does fit around the m-sport trim, no cutting. They sell with or without OEM harness and controller and they include the programming/coding remotely through them.(cable included). 15% off right now, so I'm probably in and will try to install myself. Quoting me $937 shipped with discount vs $1250 for the invisihitch.($1650 with local dealer install) I'm fairly handy so, we'll see!

Please take picture when you install. Other members will like to learn to install. Thanks.

Interesting. I just got off the phone ordering the Invisihitch (rack package only) and asked if they were aware of Stealth. Not surprising, they are aware and are located very near one another. Stealth was apparently started by an ex-Invisihitch employee.

The Stealth is a little less expensive (especially with the January discount). Not sure if shipping is included with that one but its definitely included with the Invisihitch.

Still thinking I'll get someone else to install the hitch. I have the tools but not the time. My local BMW dealership quoted $810 to install any of the hitches (Invisihitch, Stealth, or OEM). That seems very high to me, but I'd rather use someone who has experience removing/installed the bumpers, etc on the X5.

Yeah, I guess Excu/Invishitch had the market on hidden hitches, but was ripe for competition to step in and bring the price down!(Damn! I should have done that!)

Everything is more expensive at a dealer, apparently hitch install is no exception. I got a name of a local shop recommended by Invisihitch and they quoted $400 for the install with coding.

Got my Stealth hitch the other day. Vehicle's in the shop now, plus it's damn cold out, so not sure when I'll get to the install, but will try to post some photos when I get to doing it.

Stealth Hitch

I just recently purchased an F15 2015 I35. I also decided to purchase the Stealth hitch package and did the install myself. The installation went well without any major problems. I have pictures from beginning to the end and will put them in a write up and post it soon.

I installed it last weekend on my f15 50i. No cutting of the bumper. Very clean install. Unfortunately I didnt take Any phots but the install instructions from stealth hitches are really good.

Live4usmc, did you have to do any coding? Did you have to purchase a wiring harness? Was the install straight forward? Need a lift?

Thanks. Duke

No coding required as I went with the basic wiring harness that’s included with the kit. The only thing that wasn’t straightforward was the wiring of the reverse lights to the 7 round connector. My boat trailer requires this to disable to the surge brakes when backing the trailer. The stealth hitch wiring harness doesn’t account for this need so I had to wire it myself using a relay and tapping into the reverse light circuit. The install itself is pretty easy. It’s just a matter of muscling the bumper off. The clips require a lot of force to break loose which is an uncomfortable task as it feels like you’re going to break something. I didn’t use a lift, just worked on it in a buddies garage.

Live4USMC, so you went with the Stealth Hitch over the invisihitch? Earlier in the thread you posted you were getting the Invisihitch.
