Mystery solved. It is the driver’s side exhaust tip. I put a bead of black rtv silicone sealant on that inside edge where the outer “cap” and funnel shaped interior meet and no more buzz. We’ll see how long the fix lasts.
Ben, thanks for the tip

Me too. It was getting annoying and just sounded crappy even if it was just for the first 5 min of cold driving. I need to try to figure a more permanent fix. I’m thinking some expanding foam from the back side.

@CeeTeeX5 , which one more heat resistant? Silicon or the expanding foam?

I think the silicone but I’m trying to find some high temp expanding foam. No luck yet.

quick update. The buzzing sound was most noticeable during the first 5 min of my morning commute as there is a long uphill stretch where the transmission shifts through just about every gear. This would set off the buzz each time the engine hit 1500 rpms. No buzz at all today!
I did find some JB weld epoxy that I was going to use from the back side of the exhaust but there isn't a good way to get in there with the tip on the car and no way to remove just the tip without dropping the whole exhaust out. I'm going to live with the RTV sealant fix for now and see how long that lasts. It's easy enough to just run a thin bead along the seam if it wears out, which will likely happen due to washing.

I did notice some buzz on an uphill myself the other day, but only lasted a few seconds. I stepped on it pretty hard but engine was warm by that time. Nothing noticeable in other conditions.

yah, it can definitely happen and can be annoying if it happens frequently. I've found license plates and heat shielding to be the most common culprit. I might still put some of the sound deadening mats I bought on to the heat shield above the exhaust to block some of the exhaust drone in Eco-mode.
