According to Newtis it should be 75w-85, and the rear should have a carbon modifier.

Hopefully someone can post definitive proof of what is correct.
I think the 75w140 was based on, hey that guy did it, the diff didn't blow up straight away so lets do it.

From the other diff thread, ttps://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1820554&page=4

The Centre section and front diff should be Castrol Syntrax Long Life 75W-90, the 2x Outer clutch pack sections should be Castrol SAF Carbon mod. Or if in doubt, BMW OEM.

All credit goes to ferrarif1 , his post.

SAF Carbon Mod is not a unique BMW fluid and can be sourced from a number of places in bottles with various manufacturer names. In BMW bottles, this is $120/l. Buy the GM branded bottle (GM part 92269208) and it's $32/l

SAF Carbon Mod sources and OE part numbers:
Mercedes: A0019895903
Porsche: 000.043.300.37 $46/l
GM/Holden: 92269208 $32/l
BMW: 83120445832 $120/l
Chrysler: 68083381AA $49/l

I pulled this data from ZF here: https://www.zf.dk/wp-content/uploads/te-ml_18.pdf

Hi All, I've updated the spreadsheet with the correct diff fluids (that I chose to go with).

Of the front/rear diffs, tranny, and transfer case.

This thread goes into the filling of the diffs the levels and more so not over filling them. The oil type conversation, ect.

For the TC and Transmission, the general F15/F16 board has a few DYIs. Atm, there was like 2 how to for the TC on like the first page.

I've put the instructions up on another thread for the rear diff and just updated some part numbers for the front and rear diff fluids too.

I scanned in the ZF service sheet for the auto box here https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=26291997

Thanks!
If I'm attacking these myself I doubt I do them all in 1 day.
Is there consensus on which is the most crucial to replace first if none have been done that I'm aware of?

The TC seems to be the one that people say should be done the most often, based on how it gets pushed and how quickly the oil gets dirty. Some people are doing the a change, and then another one in 1km. Just as a flush.

For those searching for the GM part number it's actually 92184900. 92269208 is incorrect.

Why is that?
Changing oil can cause transmission problems especially if its a lot of mileage past due thats why they don't change it. The older the oil the thicker it is and actually helps on worn transmossions it's a long story you can research it
