That looks like a JL Stealthbox. I haven't contacted their customer service yet, but I only see that box listed for the E70 and not the F15 on their website. I wouldn't suspect the trunk dimensions changed too greatly between models, but I do have the spare tire in the compartment so that box looks like a nice fit.

Not sure if any other F15 owners by chance are using that box.

Apparently owner claims it's a E70 box but it fits in F15: read posts #15 and 16 in that thread. Here's a thread where I took that picture from: https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1238866

Thanks for reaching out. I will check in with you in the next few days. Sub, amp, and enclosure will probably be on my Black Friday list.

Thanks man for providing the link for the additional thread. The user claims it fits , but never responded when another user asked about more details on the install. Going to take out the plastic cover/storage tray in the next week or so and see what kind of room there is. Going to look into something custom similar to that style box if possible. Black Friday is approaching so I should be able to find a suitable amp and sub at a good price.

I'm actually amazed at x5 multi functionality in terms of sub placement: it can go in the passenger side cubby like you said, in the wheel well, also instead of battery like that E70 box, and finally just behind the 2nd row in the trunk. Pretty cool vehicle

Its a good fit for the stock system and even if you go new speakers or amps.

As far as the spare cover... I don't worry about it as I will sell it with the system in it. $600.00 new cover or $250 to $300 used when you find them.. the subs cost about the used cover cost so its a wash to me...
Ok. Cool.

Did you make a cover for the subs yet? I will have a lot of things in the back of my X5 from time to time and can have them sitting on the JL's.. lol

Also, do you think there will be a difference in the systems from the F15 to the G05? Or would all of this stuff hook up the same?

You can add theses to the + wire on the harness that feed each door. The tweeters already has one. The wires are a standard color code. Greys is right front, whites are left front, purples are rear right, greens are left rear. These will help you.

Here is a old school chart if anyone needs it to find the passive crossover points you desire and for the impendence you are running.

Keep in mind a cap will play all frequencies above the frequency stated and a coil will play frequencies below the frequency's stated. But a single cap or coil is only about 6db per octave drop from that crossover point

I found a great location for the bass remote knob.

I had originally had it somewhere else but this location is perfect. I don't even need to move my hand or arm to adjust it on the fly.

Wait a few weeks and I will have all the carbon fiber parts installed by then as well...

But yes I am loving all the mods I am doing as well.

Did tires and Carbon fiber interior wrap this past weekend.

Nice! Can't wait to see/hear it.

Not sure if you've coded your vehicle yet but I took the dive this weekend. (Esys)

How are you liking the BAV upgrade from HK? A big difference? I see that BAV is also launching a new amp, I wonder if that could take stage 1 plus subs to a new level.

The bad speakers will need the amp/dsp upgrade to make a big difference. Honestly start there and see if you like before buying speakers.

Is this converter mandatory if adding a mono amp and sub? I was at a local car stereo shop today and they did not mention anything about a controller.

So as I understand that controller is beneficial for 2 reasons: to convert "hot" signal coming from stock amp, down to cold/clean signal that your amp/sub can use; and to overcome lack of bass as volume increases. There are couple videos on youtube explaining LC2i

yes, because the lines have a higher voltage than an amp can handle;

Really it is depending on the amp you have selected. Some amps have built in High Level inputs and crossovers. Therefore not necessary to have a separate one.
But.... the quality is usually not as good as some of the better aftermarkets ones. Just talk to you local stereo shop on your selections and if needed they will tell you as they want to charge for every little thing they can sell.

Thanks. I will get the details of sub and amp. They are going to build a custom box for the JL sub. I'm also thinking of lining the tire compartment with dynamat to help with rattle, etc. anyone else used soundproofing in the tire compartment area?
