///M50d Brake Upgrade??

As many of you know, I have been planning some brake upgrades for my 35d daily driver project. I have sourced a set of 50i calipers and carriers, but haven’t bought my pads or rotors yet. When I was doing some more research, I have discovered the ///M50d uses a different caliper and rotor from the 50i and the X5M. This looks to be a 385mm front rotor, and the caliper to me looks similar to my E60 M5 units. Has anyone upgraded their 50i units to use the 385mm rotors? Not sure if these would fit, or I would have to also source ///M50d front calipers to run these. Does anyone have any info or experience with these? Do the ///M50d brakes offer an upgrade over the 2 piston 50i units? Obviously I have never driven a ///M50d since they are not available here in the US.

I thought the M50d just uses the M Performance Brake Kit.

The calipers and carriers look like 50 parts but they are not interchangeable with 50 parts.

My concerns would be 1) Cost of M50d brake parts (and shipping) vs. 50 take offs which are very inexpensive 2) Availability of replacement parts when you need new rotors or pads.

That’s a good point on the availability of parts. I was just curious if anyone had down this upgrade? The look of the 385mm rotors alone would be pretty cool.

After looking around a bit, I decided the ///M50d brake upgrade is more trouble than it is worth. Sourcing parts and cost of parts is much more difficult for us North American boys. I ordered up the R1concepts kit for the 50i calipers I have sourced.

Take a look at this thread ..I have 400 upfront and 385 in the rear. No issue with mounting ..can't speak to the calipers.
