2016 X5 M Individual
Finally back from a business trip and will start to post photos of the ride. As you all know, it's been a journey to finally get the car. Picked it up on December 1 and the wait was definitely worth it!
I thought about posting then (Dec. 1) but figured it would be cruel. I will post and acknowledge as I do. It's been hard to get a sunny day to photograph. I will keep trying. As far as I know, this may be the first fully Individual X5 M for delivery in the US. Azurite black with Smoke White interior. All options except Night Vision and Spy Package (grappling hooks, smoke, oil slick, ejector seats, etc.). Will post current mods and impressions later. |

Thanks. It was a long time. I am enjoying it immensely. There's so much -- it's sensory overload. I'm very pleased with the choices.

I loved it from first sight. The scotch brown covers the top portions and smoke white the lower portions of the doors. It's a creamy white, which I'm not sure the photos capture. Perhaps a shade lighter and not as grey as oyster. At night, with the accent lighting, it's gorgeous. And the quality of the leather is top notch -- soft and supple all over. I'm pleased. Good luck on the Pyrite Brown. If it is anything like the Azurite, it will be stunning. The Xirallic flake that they add to the Individual paints really sparkles. The Pyrite with the Smoke White will be a stunning combo. |

Pickup was uneventful. I did have to drive it to the shop to have it wrapped and the weather did not cooperate. The car was amazing. Solid and grounded.
Found a temporary wrap to keep the car protected until I got to the shop. Couldn't tell the true color of the car during that time. When I dropped it off, the sun managed to poke through and I got a glimpse of the special paint through the layer of dirt. |

Azurite black is actually a very dark metallic blue that appears black in certain conditions. It has high metallic flake, which makes it sparkle. Most people who see the car under low light or at night would assume that it's black. Only the flash or direct sunlight reveals the full nature of the color.

Congrats on your new cool M. What is the process for ordering an individual X5M? I spoke with a couple of dealers earlier this year and they didn't know it was available for X5 or X6.

They are very close -- same color family. In fact, unless they are side by side, it would be hard to tell the difference.
Azurite has larger metallic flake. It projects a clearer, crisper blue, whereas carbon black (schwartz) gives off a more muted blue. At night, both will appear black. |
