dynamic handling package - expected life

Fellas,
I have just gotten a new motor for my 2016 x5 50 msport from BMW via the Isley Settlement and am hoping to drive my car for another 100k miles. My car now has 103k miles and has been maintained with an open checkbook since I bought it at 40k miles in 2017. I have done some googling to no avail but wanted to know if there is an expected life for the DHP shocks and struts? is there anyone that rebuilds them or is the only option the BMW OEM parts?

Given the other items on the suspension (control arms, bushings, etc) don't seem to last very long with these cars, I figured it was the same for the DHP shocks and struts.

Any and all guidance is greatly appreciated - thanks folks

Mike

My '14 F15 with DHP is "only" at 95K miles, so you have more experience of mileage related issues. Like you, I have none.

I am, however, puzzled by the DHP components you are concerned about. DHP gives you active sway bars to keep the vehicle flat(er) when cornering hard. It also has torque vectoring, a rear diff that diverts more power to the rear outside wheel when cornering under power (to avoid under steer). DHP itself doesn't change struts or other suspension items, though it usually (always?) comes with adaptive suspension, a separate option also available as a stand-alone

Cranswick……Great point - Maybe the question should be, how long does the adaptive m shocks and struts last? Totally new to this platform and the suspension options but love the car. I do know the front sway bar was leaking slightly when I bought the car and it was replaced under factory warranty

TIA,
Mike

There are far more vehicles with Adaptive suspension than with DHP (which is a bit of a rarity). Suggest you change the title of this thread as those without DHP may not read it (thinking it doesn't apply to them)

I believe the shocks are the same as on the E70. My E70 had the precursor to Dynamic drive (adaptive drive). Shocks were fine after 10 years and 240k km

You will start to see leaking in the sway bars after a point. Have fun with that replacement is thousands.

Bought some low mileage front shocks to replace mine. Not sure if they need it but wife has been complaining about how it takes bumps lately so we'll see if that fixes it. I'm at 75k now.

Only things I've replaced thus far are control arms, transfer case and air bags and rear brake pads and rotors. Had the car since 20k miles.

Well I have adaptive shocks currently at 115k, they gone stiff but dont think its anything to do with wear but what drives them.

No leak nothing so i cant see them failing soon.
