Aircon whiring sound from dash
Hi All,
New user here (though long time reader). I've got an ongoing low pitched whirring sound coming from within the dash on my F15 M50D when the aircon/interior fan is on. It does tend to vary with engine revs - almost sounds like a power steering pump low on oil but at a lower volume. Initially I thought turning off the a/c (fan still on) got rid of it but have realized that it only goes away with the fan off. Before I start pulling apart the dashboard to replace the blower, has anyone had this issue before or any ideas? |

Hello mate
I've just got a new to me F85 and have exactly what you describe. Really audible on low fan settings regardless of if a/c is on. Goes away with fan turned off. Did you have any luck sorting it out? Have read conflicting views on here about it happening even after replacing the blower motor. Cheers |

I have this same whining noise which seems worse at low RPMs. Blower motor replaced under warranty last week and the issue is not resolved.
Also have an audible "clicking" coming from behind the central vents. Fairly consistent with A/C and fans on. Can only hear it with music off. Any thoughts? Just wondering if anyone has come across other potential fixes... |

Just noticed this noise today. Started after some city driving with the AC in during a really hot day. Had a good heatwave going on so the AC has been on a lot. The noise increases in pitch with the RPMS when the AC is on. Doesnt happen until engine is fully warm and driving for a while with AC on high.

Same issue here. From other threads, users reported replacing the blower motor does not fix. Haven't taken a look at the RealOEM part diagrams yet, but are there any other potential moving/spinning parts to investigate?

hey folks....I posted this awhile back as I am having a noise from my dash too
here is the post:https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1932942 I took it back into the dealership and they kept it for about a week and came back and and said they believe its the pulley on the AC compressor. it happens with the fan on and off. I've seen a couple posts on here where a dealership/shop replaced the blower motor and it didn't end up fixing the problem. the dealership said they diagnosed it with a stethoscope type of device....I can get OEM compressor for $652 from FCP Euro and I may change it in the winter time if the noise gets louder. |
