Intro & Phone Mount Pics

Hi! Thought I’d introduce myself and try to get my post count up.

Houston, Tx. Just picked up a 107k 2014 X5 with 3rd row.

I love a good clean MagSafe install and decided the dashboard trim piece was something I could sacrifice for the effort. Came out as clean as I’d hoped, but I ended up cracking the iD4 screen in the process. DOH.

Looking to get CarPlay and trying to decide between replacing the screen with OEM and getting an MMI box or going with one of the high res touchscreens. Would love any recent perspectives from people who’s had them a while. (Yes, I’ve read most of the threads on them)

This forum looks like a treasure trove of info. Thanks all for making it a great resource for new BMWs owners!

Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy this forum as we've got quite some knowledgeable folks. I'm not all that sure about locating the phone mount there, but good idea no less. Kind of worried about that cracked screen right behind your phone mount. Not sure if the screen will go for long, so do think about addressing that, too. Anyway, shoutout from Houston, too.

do you need a replacement ID4 screen? I have one sitting around from when i did a ID6 swap and replaced mine, pay shipping its yours...

I have the MMI prime box and it is ok. Honestly works much better with Android auto than Apple car play for some reason. Not having a touch screen of it is a bit of a drag.
