BMW had Stopped 2016 Diesel Production... is now accepting orders-Production Jan!!!!
ALL ORDERED 2016 DIESELS WILL NOW FALLBACK TO 2015 MODELS. The VW issue has literally hit the fan IMO! ***UPDATE*** BMW is slowly starting to offer limited allocations to dealers across US & Canada for Diesels. Last edited by Shaw; 12-07-2015 at 09:24 AM.. |

Apparently they are doing additional rigorous tests on all other diesel vehicles as the result of that screw up...
Until then everything is on halt for diesel... |

I don't think I would go ahead with the order because you're pretty much losing a whole model year and value will be lower once you decide to sell in future. I would wait until they figure things out and order 2016.

I told them there's no way I would buy a 2015 on the 11th month of 2015! We have currently crossed out diesel. Although still a true fan of diesel, but politically it is not the right time to buy one...as we are not certain what the future holds for Diesel. Dealer said, the release and production of diesel will be completely stopped until further notice. I don't want to end up with a vehicle on the news! I would recommend that to all others who are considering... The dust needs to settle before diesel becomes an option again IMO... Every diesel is under scrutiny for now...thx to "Das Auto!" |

The dealer told me that my ordered diesel is fully confirmed with all my selected options and still slated for early November production, but it will only get a tag of 2015. I said no way! So I'm currently looking at 2016 35i or 2016 X6 35i. Very unhappy! |

I wonder if the regular premium package will be offered or if it's premium package 2.
I ordered a 2015 diesel in early October, and was informed that the surround view camera was not available therefore I got premium package 2 which is $4400.00 instead of the usual premium package for $4900. I wonder if I should re order now if they got the proper premium package back now?

Has any market received 2016 Diesels yet? Could be a midcycle supplier change or other midcycle change that went awry?
Is VW consuming all available Urea Injection component capacity for retrofits ? |

I still do not get it... if there is an emission issue with the BMW diesel, how come they produce 2015 not 2016. They should stop production period.
But since 2015 is still being produced (unlike what happened with VW), it should mean something else. Like they switched a part or feature that require different supplier who just backed out and told them no more parts for you. |

2+2 = 5
Where does it say this is related to VW ?... as has been said above you would expect that if this was emissions related then they would stop production end of ! AFAIK there was no new engine for 2016 models so why would they continue to roll out 2015 models ?? There was a delay published a couple of months ago relating to US/Canada diesels, this seemed to be market related because UK models were unaffected (my UK 40d was built and delivered while US models were on hold which is 2016 spec). I appreciate that it doesn't help you guys with the 2015/2016 ordering decision but it doesn't mean its related to VW (certainly from what I'm seeing). Last edited by UKMS; 10-23-2015 at 03:04 AM.. |

Based on what I heard from the dealers, at this point it is a full stop to NorAm diesel production. That would mean the diesel might even be put aside for NorAm...note that environmental codes and regulations of Europe and NorAm are different. The fact that is being sold in europe uninterrupted, is another reason why I think, all diesels in NorAm are now under microscope/ 2+2=3 Last edited by Shaw; 10-23-2015 at 07:28 AM.. |

They just managed to get the last line for those who had already placed their orders for a 2016, to revert back to 2015 order guide. and some people like me, just canceled it. Makes me wonder, they might have had different plans for 2016, which would have not been compliant anymore with recent issues arising, so they've decided to double check everything! regardless of all the speculations, I think strategically, it is not time to buy a diesel anymore. Even if this think gets resolved in a month, I still think it is risky and it could go either way! |
