New X5 On The Way - All Weather Mats

Looking for some input on all weather mats. Any thoughts on going BMW vs WeatherTech? Any other options to consider?

I just picked up some from BMW. I like the fact that they are OEM and say BMW on it.

They also fit perfectly and look super.

All weather mays are a must for me. I find them very important. And I like these a lot.

I don't like the BMW rubber mats. They don't sit flat on the carpet at all.

That's interesting. I'll try and get a shot of mine later.

You might be right. I never noticed this.

just picked these up and they seem to fit fine.
not sure how they are in comparison to the weathertech floor liners... but they seem like they will do the job

got them from bmw newton in NJ by way of ebay.. they ship super fast. i literally got it in less than two days (also got my 3 series all weather mats from them as well)

Mine do not sit flat either. It's due to the thick Velcro discs as well as the felt on the back of the liners themselves not being recessed enough. I pulled the discs to help them sit a little lower.

I went with BMW mats in the footwells and WeatherTech for the cargo area.

The BMW mats have a smoother surface than the 'waffle' pattern of the WeatherTechs which we find more comfortable under foot, while the WeatherTech surface and rolled up edges in the cargo area seem better suited for this location.

I went with the Floor liners(Front, 2nd row(rear), 3rd and cargo (E70 will fit F15)) row instead of the floormats for my E70 and now the F15. I have kids and the extra protection of the Floor liners(especially in the rear/2nd row) was greatly appreciated! I went with WeatherTech for the E70 and BMW for the F15.

Anyone looking for rubber/all-weather floormats should look into Floor liners before purchasing. They sit flat and are an excellent secure fit. Notice the extra coverage in the Rear/2nd row.

BTW: WeatherTech makes the BMW Floor liners.

We went OEM BMW all-weather mats front & rear & cargo floor.
Worked as expected during "snowma-geddon" a month back.

How would Weather Tech put up with two toddlers in the back?

Weathertech cover the hump in the middle whereas the BMW one doesn't, so the former would definitely be better with toddlers.

I agree with the next response. The weather tech mats definitely cover more area. They are also raised along the edges and will catch and contain almost anything that spills. I will try to get a picture up.

btw, weathertech makes OEM BMW mats. I don't recall the model name, but their base version are the BMW branded mats.

However, weathertech makes a bunch of other versions (under their own name) with higher side protection as well.

Also, buying Weathertech means buying American...and that's great for all of us.

My take on mats. Had a toyota highlander. Ordered the weathertech front and back . . . excellent mats. Heavy and rubbery. Perfect fit.
Also ordered the weathertech cargo mat. . . . crapola. Plasticky (no rubber) poor fit and excessive cost for like $124 plus high shipping.
Had them pick up their mat and got the oem highlander mat online for 20% off what the toyota dealer wanted.
Great oem mat, great fit. heavy and rubbery.

Bmw X5 ordered the weathertech mats front and back. excellent fit. Unlike the Bmw oem mats the weathertech version has the extra rubber mat protection under your left foot. Whats the point of the mat if it does not catch the snow and salt in winter under your left foot. Also sand/mud in summer.

The weather tech cargo mat is also crapola just like the toyota cargo mat from WT.
OEM bmw cargo mat for like $130 also plasticky crapola. The oem $200 version from dealer is much better. Can be found online for $170-180. Really nice mat with sharp looking Bmw logo on it.
