Squeaky Steering Wheel

F15/16 owners, I have been experiencing some squeaking/rubbing feeling in steering wheel over the last few days. Initially, I thought it was due to low tire pressure, which was 34 front and 39 rear. However, adjusting the tire pressure to 36/41 did not eliminate the noise. I feel it upon turning at any speed.

Any idea what that could be? My online search yielded few results in the F30 community, but nothing concrete on the cause or remedy.

Thanks in advance for your input.

P.S. My car is a 2016 F15 Xdrive50i

The squeak/squeal is coming from inside or outside?
If it is inside when turning the steering wheel I would wager it is the clock spring behind the steering wheel.

I had this squeaking sound as well and before I could get it looked after we had an issue with the power steering column not able to go up or down. They replaced the steering column and now all is good...no squeaking and the power steering is back to normal.

I have heard this recently as well, at least for mine its from inside the vehicle...only happens when its sub-zero temps.

The squeak is from the inside. Will take it to the dealer this week; hopefully they can identify the cause

Fortunately, my steering wheel column moves fine so no issue there. However, I do feel that the steering wheel is not as light as it used to be

I have a 2014 X5D and had the steering squeaky issue fixed once last year. However it comes back again this week...

It happened to me during the winter. The sound is gone now that the temps are higher....

I had a hardly noticeable but consistent squeaking coming from my steering wheel when I would turn to the right. I mentioned it to my Service Adviser and they replaced the "Control module for the steering column switch cluster SZL" Defect Code: 6112553900

I'm not sure if this is your issue but let us know what comes of your dealer visit.
