Current RSE has HDMI in. So you can basically plug-in any HDMI capable device, such as Amazon Fire or Chromecast. I've tried it with my AppleTV/Plex and it works.

Still, for those to function you'd also need in-car wifi. Mine is locked - BMW doesn't offer the service in Bulgaria. I've only tried it in my garage, where my home wifi is available.

Chromecast works with the following:

-WIFI for chromecast to connect to
-RCA to HDMI Converter (link)

I have a 2015 so no BMW WIFI, but I can plug my iphone in and stream youtube, netflix, etc.

Yea I have already done it with the HDMI converter, was hoping I could do it with the USB. Oh well.

Are you plugging your iPhone in via the USB or with multiple converters?

My wife will want to stream Netflix on our RSE in our 2015, and she has a new iPhone Xs.
Wonder if I should get this Lightning to HDMI connector:
https://www.apple.com/us_edu_46319/s...B3058%252B4a79

And then just connect via HDMI or add another HDMI-AV converter?
I've actually seen a few videos out there on screen mirroring but I'm not sure it'll work in a 2015 without BMW wifi?

Alternatively, I'd probably have an easier time connecting my Android tablet via the USB, though I still need to test and see whether that would play.

Question on the RSE.

I am thinking of upgrading our iDrive to Carplay with this.

https://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw...lay-activation

I am going for the full setup like the 2017 plus versions.

If I do this will it carry over to the RSE? Can I stream airplay in the back?

Hi Guys,

Read through this thread - I'm having the same issue as some of you with regards to the Headphones.

I have a 2018 F85 which has just been delivered with 2 brand new sets of the BMW Bluetooth Headphones... I cannot for the life of me get them to pair.

Is there a step by step guide somewhere? Will my RSE be Bluetooth or is it something else?

I know I can use wires, but I really want to avoid that if possible... nothing looks that great (or integrated) if you are connected by wires.

Any help is massively appreciated.

Turks.

Bump on this. I have a 2014 X5 with composite inputs. Did you figure out a solution to go from iPhone to composite to stream directly from the iPhone?

I have the older composite system as well. Using a Roku with composite output which I see is no longer manufactured. You may be able to find a used one on eBay.

https://www.amazon.com/Roku-Express-...317456&sr=8-53

The Roku is powered by the USB port.

I have a Mobile hotspot powered by T-mobile connected to my OBD port. This allows my Roku to find a wifi signal without me having to fiddle with my phone setting up a hotspot.
The Roku has all the streaming services I need. Nephews love long road trips in the X5.

I previously had an HDMI to composite converter but I hated all the cables I had to try and hide. The composite output Roku is much cleaner.

Buddy of mine got a f85 recently that came with the rear seat entertainment. Unfortunately it didn’t come with the remote but at least came with the headphones. We can figure out how to get anything to show on the rear screens. Does he need the remote to be able to select a movie? Messing around with settings in Idrive we see the dvd in the drive along with a usb drive but we can’t get it to actually play the movie.

Any insight?

Yep, you will need the remote to do anything for the rear infotainment.
