Msport air intake curtains to look like m50d euro spec

While I'm still awaiting the release of my X5 50i, I'd like to know if there is anyway to get the chrome/steel strip for the front air curtains like that are on the euro spec X5 M50d? I noticed at the dealer that the USA msport line has 3 little holes going across the middle of the air curtain where the strip would/could be installed. Anyone have any ideas? I think it looks much better and draws away from the non-functional fake grill-plastic.

These should come standard and I'm surprised the designers didn't add them.

+1 to all of the above... Though I think even the strip looks out of place pasted on the fake honeycomb...

Not that it will make anyone feel any better, but I noticed Mercedes does this fake honeycomb thing on the GLK (and presumably others) as well.

In reality I'd prefer the entire air curtain from the x5 m50d as half has "real" breather and the other half separated by the "strip" is the honeycomb plastic. Just looks much better in my opinion. Is this design solely so that air goes over the wheels and out the side vents? Almost which they took the xline intake design and merged with the M sport vs the plastic honeycomb. Well at least there are no issues with the engine...oh wait I got the V8 that has been sitting at the VPC for 6 weeks waiting for a repair . Still excited about our purchase, but the waiting and lack of info is taking its toll..

Anyone have an update or way to purchase the aluminum air curtain accents?

Also still unsure why the passenger side has half honeycomb/half real honeycomb breather and the driver side is only fake plastic honeycomb .

Wish the half fake/half real was on both sides for continuity and of course with the aluminum accent strip

Would it be negatively impacting if you were to replace the driver said air citation with the same type that is on the passenger/turbo side? Again just would look better IMO but not sure if it would have adverse effects or if it's even available

I have mine ordered, My dealer had to order direct from Germany.

They are backordered, should have them in the new year. They cost about 120.00 each (sorry I don't have the part number handy)

For an example of the honey comb with the empty screw holes from the 2014 x5 50i:

I did some digging in the Parts catalog :

The M50d has the 2 aluminium colored strips that cut the grille in two, as you can see on the picture below.

In the parts catalog for the M50d, this is part 6, and you need part 7 (clip) to fit it.

Interestingly, there is an option to have a half open grille on both left and right ! (check parts 4 and 5 in the list below )

I am not sure on which model this will be standard ? On the X5 M ?

My guess is that the half open grille on the left is for right-hand-drive models...

So if you want to have the grille open on both sides + the strip, you need to order :
