Thanks for the heads up on the cargo net!

I'm the second owner after the first had owned the car for 2.5 years and evidently, he must've not come across this thread haha.

I can confirm that in the US, cargo net is present even for 3rd row F15's.

I also found one in our CPO 328d last year when we got it.

I picked up a 2016 X5 yesterday and out of sheer dumb luck, I found the cargo net this morning. I saw an earlier post in the thread concerning how to attach the net. I still cant figure it out. Can someone post well lighted pics of each mounting point?

thanks

Do you have mounting brackets like this?

Yes I do. I have the rails and the sliding mounts. Where it looks like the net hooks attached at the top are just holes in the molding. Do the bottom hooks just clip to the sliding blocks or are there fixed attachments?

I have the top hooks attached to the holes in the molding and the bottom ones hooked to the sliding tie down points. Works just fine.

That is what seems to work. I was worried that I would damage the molding once there were items of weight in the net.

I haven't had an issue with hooking to the plastic molding. You'd think there'd be a legitimate hook against the tailgate but no.. and the ones that fold out that are about halfway in the trunk are useless to hook the net to. I've put groceries, cases of beer, other heavy whatchamacallits in the net and no problems.

I'm just surprised of how little curious some people are....I think I opened those compartments the same day I got the car!

LOL - I actually did open it up when I first got it home, but never noticed the net. In my defence, it was a quick look and the net is dark + the cubby it's stashed inside is dark + it's stuffed in below floor level = didn't notice it.

Now that said, I did have plans of putting a first aid kit in there as well as a safety triangle and vest along with some other bits and pieces that came out of our Q7 TDI that Audi bought back. It's just been too damned cold lately and I have to find where I put those things into storage in the basement, so haven't had a chance. I think I would have noticed it eventually but this thread popped up before I got to it!

Most people open it and see that its an unfinished compartment and just close up the lid... I know plenty of people who knows about this compartment but never looked deep enough to find the net.

I just discovered this few days ago lol... last owner had no idea I guess.

Kinda big/high though. I dunno if i'll use it like that. I thought it was designed to lay flat on the trunk and secure objects from moving around by hooking to the latching points on rails

I also thought it was designed to go flat like in the F30.
This is where I have it for now while I think what to put in it lol
