Geez - it's getting to the point where, I'm embarrassed to say, they should shut down the US plant and move assembly back to Europe.

I believe, when the car is delivered, seats and floors are all wrapped up in plastic.

Z.

BTW, just got my X5 tinted today. 20% both front windows and a visor strip. The tint guy said this was the matching darkness to the rear windows....and he's right.

So it's the dealers leaving razors everywhere. Hmmm. Here's hoping the delivery team at your local dealer doesn't slip up and accidentally slice through your new Nappa seats or gouge out a chunk of your console lol...

Hahaha! They didn't. I made sure of that after I saw the razor blade. Should've taken a photo of it.

Garage List
this is a good word doc...
May I suggest that someone who is more familiar with all potential items to consolidate into the .doc file our friend has prepared? we can turn that into a more comprehensive one...
adding all the other items to that list that are suggested here...

So I actually worked in high school as a lot porter for a bmw dealer. We used the razor blades to remove the sticker from the window. While I was very careful, I was working with lots of 18-20 year old kids that were probably not as careful. I would bet pretty high odds that it is in fact the dealer leaving those blades and not the factory...

Funny you mention that. I found a 1cm scratch on my passenger side window yesterday when I was getting it tinted. Now I know where that came from!

It's all about setting expectations...
Maybe it's just me, but I do expect more items being tik tok and OK with BMW vs. a GM or Ford... therefore I think we are a bit more sensitive as to what we are getting for the money we are paying...make sense?

Totally agree. My point is that when I buy a BMW I would expect they have a flawless quality control and a top notch dealer service that they would go through the checklist themselves rather having me do it. It just drives me crazy that after spending $70k, $80k, etc... on a car you still have to deal with small annoying details that were left out of their inspection. They should hire people from this forum, real BMW buyers, to work on their quality control and not people that act like robots and they can say is " we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you .... " BUT you are now on your own since you took delivery.

If I buy a Ford, GM or Chrysler all I expect from them is to get my money and ask me to leave. Thus, I have no expectations whatsoever.

I hear you...and the reality sometimes is bitter... to make it worse, we are charged with $2-3K of PDI to have the car fully inspected and yet...
I also think the more sophisticated the car, the more chances of blisters popping up!
Marketing is always ahead of Sales and Service...so forget about the advertisements "we offer the best of ..." everyone's aim is to sell something...and take care of the after sales later...if ever!
It is not only BMW, all luxury brands are in the same boat...
But to make sure as Zip mentioned earlier, we need to cover our bottoms when we are receiving the goods...we can refuse to accept the car at delivery time if something is wrong with it...but after delivery...it's the cat & dog chase...

Picking up a new car without being accompanied by a publicly appointed and sworn expert? Never.
