I hate that the video does not work. So, besides having a DVD in the drive, is there any way to play video on the display?

I have:
ipod touch
iphone 4
iphone 5
media snap in adaptor for the iphone 4

Also, does anyone know if the snap in adaptor for the iphone 3gs work with an ipod touch? I am thinking about returning the iphone 4 adaptor and getting the iphone 3 one to use my ipod because it has more room.

with optional snap-in adapter, you can stream music and receive phone calls with out Bluetooth. Generally, Bluetooth eats battery faster and this could be an alternative. Most importantly, this dock is connector to Roof antenna for much efficient cellular reception.
You don't need the snap-in adapter to provide this functionality. I simply plug my phone into the USB port and get the exactly the same functionality

The cradle that fits the actual phone dock is standard. You have to purchase the dock separately. I believe BMW has one for iPhone 5S now.

Apparently there is a spare part to cover up the hole with a plate (8 and 9)
Note: only require purchase of part number 8 from the diagram... BMW part number 51169252106 which subsequently is on back order until May 2014 according to my parts guy as of Tuesday this week.

Can't find the part anywhere. Is there anywhere online that I can purchase this or can I put the old plate back without the adapter piece?

Gene,

Call your local dealer to order that part.
I don't think anyone selling them online yet.
I don't know about putting the old plate back, I didn't try it.

BMWPartSupply.com had them.
I placed my order the other day and then they sent me an email canceling and refunding my order since they do not have the part in stock.

Let me know if you guys need help in ordering them.
Just pay me the cost and shipping.
Maybe give me a count who wants it so I order them all together, saves me a trip.
Based on my experience, it takes a month to get them. I don't think any dealers willing to stock this item, neither do I.

I'm going to remove mine this weekend. The space the cradle takes up in the armrest is brutal. That's my only complaint on my X5 so far, the overall lack of storage space.

Trust me, this is the BEST modification ever. I'm so glad I swapped it out.
