Is my wife's F16 a total loss?

Someone hit my wife's F16. She is leasing it and lease is supposed to end next year. From the pictures, is it considered a total loss? I'm not sure what BMW's collision assessment criteria is. Any ideas?

Hard to judge by 3 pictures, but if airbags did not deploy I don't think this is total loss. This is a question to your insurance company, but doesn't look horrible. Hood+fender+bumper, new headlight(s?) new fog light, paint job, new grills plus whatever internal damage . What happened? Hit a wall?

Airbag did not deploy.

She was hit by a drunk driver driving a pickup truck while driving out of the parking garage.

Crazy thing is my M550i got hit by a hit and run last week where it was parked in the garage. got back from a trip to NYC on Sunday and found that someone hit it. Minor damage tho...but 2 cars in one week. 😔

Submit a police reports for each case, so cops can look into security cameras and may be find a license plate of the asshole who did it.

yea we called the cops for my wife's accident today. they arrested the guy cos i think he was drunk. For mine the cops are investigating who hit it. We have pretty good insurance and uninsured coverage too. just annoying cos we both customized the cars and have only had them for 18 months. And now...sigh!

it will infact not be a total loss, must exceed 80% of vehicle worth. I had the same thing happen to mine two days after purchase. totalling $16,000 in damages and it looked like yours.

May be. There could be frame damage with that impact.

yea that's my main issue...if there is frame damage then i'm not sure about the 100% integrity of the frame. We already took it to BMW. they will let us know.

Glad your wife is okay and that they arrested the other guy.

Damage doesn't look enough to be totalled but maybe there's some frame damage. Is it drivable?

At least in my state, uninsured motorist coverage only kicks in if the at fault motorist is identified and has no or less than required coverage. If you don't know who hit the vehicle, then it's covered under the collision portion of the policy, with the higher collision deductible.

What state is that? I guess it's different in Texas. My car got covered via the uninsured coverage

Rhode Island. It happened to us over the winter. One of our vehicles was swiped in a parking lot. Insurance covered it (without our premiums going up) but would not cover it under the uninsured motorist since we did not know who swiped it. We promptly dropped uninsured motorist from our policy.

yea i would do the same...cos then what's the point of uninsured if situations like that r not covered. most other cases would be covered by collision coverage so might as well just have that one.

Exactly.

Sorry about the accident(s). Other people suck.
