Wheel specs for f15

Hey guys, my buddy picked up a F15 and is trying to figure what wheel size + offset he should go with to not mess with the xdrive and be able to get a wider wheel. Probably looking for 21s or 22s. Let me know if you guys have any input.

Don't forget to check whether your buddy has wheel flares or flush wheels! I have a luxury line that came with 19s, and the lack of extended fender flares limits my offset (I've loosened my wheel bolts and tried spacing my wheels to get an idea).

I love it, the fitment is spot on for an msport, I have a few photos on my thread.

2015 MSport

Do these specs work for 21's

Front 21x10 et32
Rear 21x11.5 et30

Also runflats or no runflats ? Opinions ?

These would be my summers as I have the stock 19's

Thanks Opasha

Does this mean the wheels would stick out too far or would they be in too much ?

Thanks again

Actually, its the other way around. Aftermarket 32/30 offsets compared to OEM 40/38 offsets would actually push the wheel out 8mm over OEM assuming the same width wheel.

Is that really how it works? I have 22x10 offset 40 (aftermarket replicas) on all four and they are perfectly aligned under the fender, and I don't even have the flared fenders since I came from 19" 449 OEM wheels.

Sorry, I'm not an expert. I remember Taran.J explaining it to me before when he got his custom offsets.

I guess if we're referring to positive and negative offsets...this is where things get different?

So then, a wider wheel that is 22x12 sticks out more because of the offset and not its actual width? I thought in order to keep it properly aligned with the front wheel while retaining a thicker rear, the offset had to be decreased in the rear to balance the wider width of the rear wheel being 22x12 vs the front 22x10.

I guess I had it backwards this whole time and the rear wheels stick out a lot more due to the decreased offset size and wheel width does not factor in at all.

They show here that offset 40 is wider and further away from the center line than offset 35...so is this specifically referring to OEM? TSW is an aftermarket wheel company, though:

I was looking for a good video to post and the TSW one does a reasonably good job. In the TSW example, if you go from ET35 to ET40, you are removing 5mm from the backpad on the wheel and the wheel is going to move 5 mm inboard.

The offset and width are both important measurements as the offset is based on the centerline of the wheel but the width determines how far out the wheel bead extends from that centerline.

You can easily build a calculator in Excel but this online tool does a good job based on tire size, wheel width and offset to see how different wheels fit:

Do you have any problems with rubbing with your setup?

It is an SUV, with a drop, you still have about 2"-3" gap.
No rubbing at all.

I'm looking for a 19 winter setup for my f15 x35i msport. It has 20 option on right now. Prefer VMR or TSW wheels with non runflat . Will VMR v710 19x8.5 ET35 square set up fit on? Any advice? ET range? Thanks

Your best bet is to run the same spec as OEM 19".
X5 19" setup is 19x9 +37 all around.
