I have my BMW tech buddy swinging by the house early am to help me get it done. Especially since he's the one with the welder lol

You're gonna GoPro the whole thing right?
I did a little welding back in the day and wish I had the room and time to do it now.

Wife got me an HTC RE. Strange little thing but I'm going to do it with both. So far the noise quality is far superior to my GoPro Black. Not sure of at speed on any car

I doubt it were doing it at 0630, but I'll make some snips of it off the iPhone.

So we just chopped it off again now and I grinded the welds off the muffler. Sitting waiting on my buddy to grind the tip pipes now.

X5 sounds raspy since I drove it 10 miles yesterday. Needs carbon build up still give it some more miles to break in.

There is a slight drone at 1800-2100 RPM at load and highway speed. Other than that there is a modest noise increase in the cabin with no music on. With music on it is absent.

However it does burble and pop...ALOT which is cool but idk how cool since I can't hear it at all times and there are certain times it should be tamed.

Hmm, I guess it is similar to my muffler where it has a drone on low rpm on load.

Only time I experience droning is when I'm in Eco pro and at highway speeds...
Fortunately, for me I hardly ever drive in eco pro so.

Yes now it can go two ways. Once the muffler has a few hundred miles and is filled with carbon on the inside it can either settle down or get worse. Usually quieter since then air flow is not directly hitting the aluminum or whatever these systems are made from. Kind of like how the new M4 sounds terrible at the lot but gets deep after a few weeks of driving

Honestly drove in Eco pro off the lot. Other than that never have. Comfort mode is where the drone is heard under load. In sport mode it's lively and since you zoom past 2000rpm it is unheard at harder acceleration.

M Performance Exhaust in detail...

What you get in the M performance exhaust box is the Muffler and the lap band clamp to fix it from the axle back pipe.

The exhaust itself is like the pipe from the DP back fully open like an straight pipe which comes out to 2 outlets to where the finishers attach. There seem to be perforated holes to lessen any in cabin drone and it does a fair job.

My 2 cents. There seems to be cabin noise in comfort mode at 1900-2000 rpm at speed or at load of engine. Which is a little annoying especially if you can pick up high frequencies and/or have children in the back rows who might especially when you are trying to keep them asleep.

Buying the M sport finishers...

If you are like me and didn't want to spend the extra money...Don't be like me just buy them. It won't be what you expected unless your exhaust person is a god.

These finishers are the same tips you already have (Msport) guys. You also get two tips. If your cool like me have r33_RGSport put your order in and pay him to black them out on your white and black themed X5's because we aren't original and it looks dope yo. But like said before the M Performance finishers include the Flap mechanism but no flap inside and no spring so the system does not flip out.

Well I?d post more but my local BMW dealer; BMW NW, has had my X5 unfortunately since Thursday Sept 14th. To install the back up camera retrofit kit. Which they installed it in a day then tech took the weekend off. SA wasn?t in for a few days so nobody could answer my calls or texts. Came back to tell me the back up camera supplied is defective because the X5 would not accept them programming it.

SA called me Friday Sept 22 that going to order a new back up camera because that?s the issue at $600 which will be here Monday. Got a text this morning Sept 26, they actually come from Germany which will take a week to deliver so they can plug it into my X5 and hope it will work once they recode it. Not guaranteeing it?s operation but reminding me once again my bill now has totaled $1850 in labor and camera.

Apparently they?ve coded my X5 multiple times and it is not accepting the backup camera option. Which is strange since it?s a OEM BMW Retrofit Kit, OEM BMW back up Camera, techs double checked work completed, then took a week to call ASAP (After-sales Assistance Portal) which is for BMW Techs to call, and ask for help so labor doesn?t go overboard to customers (like me at the moment) and hold up their business either.

Sorry to vent but that?s the position I am in currently with my dealer BMW NW. I?ve just been saying ?ok? to all of their calls and texts that I just want my X5 back in the same perfect working condition and not complaining about price. This dealership has literally turned a decade old customer against their entire lineup just because of their Service staff. I?m glad I?ll be moving back to Mercedes AMG for my daily driver SUV?s.
