Summer Performance Tire Recommendation

I've got a gash on the sidewall of one of the of the Dunlop Sportmaxx runflats that came with the 50i Msport. Only about 15k miles. (actually less than that because it's riding on winter tires right now). I could replace the one tire, but I don't like the idea of mismatched tread depth. I think I remember reading those who have gone to non-runflats have said the ride is nicer and they are quieter. I've searched the forum but haven't found anything. Any recommendations? 469 wheels, 20" staggered.

put in ur oem tire size into tirerack and it'll list both run flats and non run flats available in ur specific size. a more popular choice of non runflat performance tire seems to be Conti DW/DWS 06. since u have dedicated winters then go with the DW.

Yup, I've done that. As far as summer performance, non runflat, it seems that is currently the only option. Just wondering if there are other options that Tire Rack isn't showing. Also, just wanted to hear from someone who's got them if they are happy with them or not. Bridgestone Dueler I guess is another option. I'm not sure what the difference between "summer performance" and "Street/Sport truck summer" is. I assume Summer Performance is considerably better performance but wondering if the size and weight of the X5 would make a tire specifically made for a truck/suv a little more appropriate, but it's probably just a marketing ploy to make truck owners feel better. The load rating is the same.

I've ditched my RFTs and am installing 20" Continental DWs tomorrow. Purchased them from Tire Rack.

Well, it seems that they are out of the Conti DW.

Hmmm...I'm seeing they are still available from Tire Rack and are even further discounted from when I purchased a month ago.

Conti DWS is all season? Pilot Super Sport is supposed to be the best summer tires.

Correct. If he wants to go PSS on the staggered 20's, I believe you have to upsize from the 275/315's.

I had Bridgestones on my E70 and always loved the way they rode. The P Zeros look great, but ride rather soft for my liking and wear out by just looking at them. I have the PSS tires now (on 21" wheels) and they're fantastic.

Yes, they appear to be there, and I put them in my cart, but when I attempt to purchase, they say they are out. I will call them and see what the deal is.

OK, Tire Racks website wouldn't take it last night or earlier today, but I got them after a couple of tries today. Fronts are coming from Reno, rears are coming from Denver. 275/40 20 front, 315/35 20 rear. They are having a closeout sale with very low inventory. Don't know if it's seasonal and there will be more later, or if conti has actually stopped production of this particular version, or if Tire Rack is just ceasing to carry it.

if they r closing out it may be because the manufacture is bringing out a new model... possibly...

as for car performance tires vs truck specific tires, truck specific tires usually have more plys in them making them stiffer to carry more weight. this will make the side wall stiffer and less prone to roll over when cornering hard, but will also make the ride more harsh. for a X5, i think a car specific tire will do fine.
