Yeah, it's going to look ugly.
But they are pretty good shop with good reviews and worst case scenario I just have to order new exhaust tip.

Finally got to install these retrofit exhaust tips.
Not much to do it. Tools needed to cut is power cutting disc and basic tools.
Thanks to @r33_RGSport for the parts and helping with the shipping.
FYI: No difference at all in the sound. As the exhaust valve was eliminated and dummy unit was already install on the right side pipe to avoid any errors.

I'm confused, if you done the same procedure with replacing working flap with dummy, why no sound change? I was going to weld in the working flap part tomorrow, but if something else is causing the sound.. any suggestions?

Maybe because you have an MPPK. The exhaust sounded a bit more pronounced after my MPPK install. Couldn you record your exhaust sound and put it up here?

Nice fat rear wheels. Love seeing X5's with wide tires.

I put new tailpipes two days after installed MPPK, I could swear I started here that after exhaust mod.
What I found regarding this valve saying it should be the source . I'm wondering why you are not hearing it:

"The valve is part of the BMW Active Exhaust and is purely for noise reduction.
Where at idle speeds, up to 2500 RPM: the exhaust flap is closed with vacuum applied to the actuator. This causes the exhaust gas to pass through the long resonator pipe, reducing the low frequency noise that is generated."

Here is the sound. N1 is in idle, N2 is with some revs.

Yeah, wheels are great. I am missing those, I had 315 on my 2011 X5, thinking of getting those for new X5.
Regarding MPPK, im telling that I haven't heard the difference just after installing the power kit and before removing the valve.

So I can a little confused and I have some questions:
1. So if you have X-line or Pure whatever you need to change the rear lower valence?
2. Where do we get the valence and what is the part number? Does it come with the trapezoidal tips?
3. If I am planning on getting MPE would it still work with this new valence?
4. Does the MPE come with muffler only and you would have to get tips separately?

1) Yes if you want the trapezoid tips,
2) Contact Ben (R33_RGSport) on this forum,
3) Yes,
4) Yes, tips are separate items.

Good luck.

Corrected --- See below.

I would be better for u to wrap the hell out of your bumper and plastidip directly. Good luck.

Wrong answer here:
There are two pins(one on each side) with a one way washer that if you try to pull off it will break the pins, also two strips of double sided tape. If you break the very fragile pins on each side you will need to buy a new part since even with the best double sided tape the ends won't be flush with the bumper anymore.

I took my chrome molding out and replace it with the matte aluminium this is why I know how this is install and the problem with the fragile plastic pins with the washers.

It is better to plastic dip the molding there as it is right now and clean up the extra after done.

I may made a quick DIY in the forum under someone's thread.
Maybe next week I will make another thread specifically to do that.
To cut the tip, get the saw and the blade from Home Depot, that probably will cost you less than $100. Just be careful since you will be working upside down.
Also, measure it with the bumper on before you start cutting. I never give it an exact measurement, since what I did was a diesel, and the pipe length may be different.
So cut it so the pipe from the muffler will be sitting inside the new tip. Then clamp on. Better to cut a little long than too short, since you will then need to bring it to a muffler shop to fix them.
See in the attached picture, the tip's pipe end to the muffler have a slit on it. Make sure the muffler's outlet pipe long enough to sit inside and passed that slits, so when it is clamped, no exhaust gas will leak out.

hello, did you post the DIY pictures of the installation? just wondering where exactly I have to cut the OEM pipe

For cutting is the pipes I choose to leave about 3 inches of pipe on each side of the muffler.

You have to measure it by putting the new pipes against the original and cut about few inches outward to have the new pipe to slip in and clamped securely.
If you don't know, I suggest to have muffler shop to get it done. Because when you screw up, there is no turning back. Then you will have to have the muffler shop to fix it for you.

I gave you my set up for the cut. I have an X5 35i X Drive.
Maybe you should go to the muffler shop, just to be safe.
