F15 M Performance parts cost and labor
In the process of ordering a 2017 X5, hoping to complete the order in a day or two. I was talking to my dealer to add the following M performance parts
1. Carbon Fiber Front Splitter 2. Rear Lip Spoiler 3. Side skirt Films (or Rocker panel film strips) 4. Cover selector liver in Carbon Fiber 5. Pedal cover Stainless Steel He is quoting a total of $2900 for the parts, minus labor (still waiting for the labor cost). If I go to getbmwparts ( https://www.getbmwparts.com/partloca...subcat1=215189 ), its giving a total of $2123. shopbmwusa gives me close to ~$2600. Probably not much difference, but I might plan to add more parts and thats when the difference will start to matter. Should I order the parts through the dealer or via getbmwparts? I would prefer through the dealer, so I can residualize as part of the lease and just pay for the depreciation for 3 years. I'm planning to go with a darker paint (Ruby Black Metallic), all the pictures that I have seen so far in the forum for M performance parts are mostly for Mineral White, Space Gray and Silver. Does anyone have any pics of M performance parts on either Carbon Black or Black Sapphire body paint? (I don't think there are many Ruby Black cars out there anyway) |

20% Off
I received a 20% off coupon from Sterling BMW on genuine M performance parts installation a couple of weeks ago. Check with your SA if they would honor that coupon. Or check with Ben.

20% off on performance parts cost or installation? Or both? I'm talking to BMW Encinitas as they are the only ones in Socal that seem to give a good discount (close to 9% off MSRP) on a X5. Do you think Sterling can match that? Is that Ben Keller btw?

Just installation but let me make sure. I'm at work atm. Not sure if its Ben Keller. I got my MPPK tune and install at Sterling while we were on a family vacation at Disneyland. They were great to deal with. Even gave me a loaner for the day so I could drive the family around the area.

If it's a lease then it's a no brainer to do it with the dealer at that price.

you know, there are much cheaper OE BMW dealers out there....I love the getbmwparts guys, but I know of at least 3 that are consistently cheaper. I bet you can save at least another $100 combined on these parts

I was told from the dealer that M performance parts cannot be residualized on a X5. Is this true? Has anyone leased a X5 and added M performance parts? if so did you pay for the parts or did you have the dealer include them in the lease price?

My X5 will be Carbon Black with Carbon Fibre parts. No photos yet as delivery due mid March. Paid £6500 for parts and labour but does include the 599M 21" alloys. Greg |

My question is why you would put pay out of pocket to install extra stuff on leased vehicle...

I don't want to, if I had an option. But I do like the M performance parts as it gives the X5 the athletic look and I never thought that I had to pay for the parts separately until two days back.

i just ordered everything from getbmwparts and paid up the $2100. its realllllly not hard to install those items.
i got the front splitter, rear diffuser, pedals and alcantara steering wheel. With the help of a friend whose installed lips//diffusers before in previous cars i was astonished to see how easy it was, all while doing it properly of course. just for comparison my shop told me $60 for install for each lip/diffuser so $120. not bad even if i decided to do that. My X5 M sport is a lease. i didn't care tho i liked the parts, and got everything on the car asap so i could just enjoy it. Only thing i did pay my performance shop to do is the H&R sport springs and full X5M carbon/alcantara interior trim cheers and goodluck ! |

Lots of people do it including myself. All of the carbon parts can be resold and recoup some of the cost. Just check the owners classified section . And if you added the parts with the lease deal then you are only paying for the leased portion of the cost.

Anyway paying the extra M performance pack thro a lease plan is cheaper than buying it outright. Surely this is no different to purchasing optional extras to the car |

Was this recent, or sometime back. If anyone has managed to add M performance parts successfully to a lease in late 2016 or early 2017, please let me know. The dealer said if I could show this in the MSRP invoice, he can add the parts to the lease. He said he cannot do it as the instructions are coming from BMW.
