X5 Production online tracking
Our new X5 car is due delivery end of march , on order a 40e M sport.
Is the online tracking tool still only available for north american folks? Love to check the progress without having to go back to the dealer each time. Thanks for any feedbacks. |

Can't help you with the online tracking question, although I do think it's for NA customers only.
However, I had to just jump here with a reply, to say I'm very impressed to see in your profile that you drive a 635csi One of my all time favourites, along with the 840. What year is your 635csi, I'm currently following a couple leads on an early 80's csi or even an 840/850 as a wee "toy" for myself. |

Some dealers set up something that links in with the tracking system so you get notified by txt or email whenever the production status code changes....my dealer has done this, and I've had a few txts, but don't think it works very well, and doesn't log every change.
Best, and really only way, for those of us outside the USA, is to go onto the BMW website and when it come up with that dialogue pop-up box, 'Talk to a genius' click on that and give them your order code, and they will tell you the code status etc to track the build. Just means you have to do it everyday if you want to track it through the factory once it gets into build.

although you can't track changes while in production, I was able to follow the car while it traveled the pond... :-)

online status is never accurate,
BMW Genius is a little better. Most accurate info on status is dealership |

I prefer to call BMWNA customer service which IMO is pretty accurate.

Big fan too of the 840, but stayed away as they tend to cost a fortune to maintain, plus it will take a good few year before is a classic (30 yrs old), the 635 is highline late 88 so the very last version of the 635 before BMW stopped production April 89 I believe.
I got this one from a Dublin Porsche specialist, I started searching back in 2006 and only managed to find a good one by 2013 mind you kept it local, i.e. never tried the UK, you need to make sure the rust is minimum other wise it will cost you. The car is off the road and will turn classic next year the road tax will drop from 1800 to 40 euros, will be perfect summer drive. Quote:

If the system is not spot on accuracy wise, no need as I was trying to work out if it is worth renewing the road tax for the X3 due around the time of delivery, so we just renew it and probably transfer it over to the X5 couple of weeks later.
Thanks folks for the updates. |

I've managed to get the VIN of my car from my dealer and if your car has departed the Factory (gone past Code 9000) you may be able to track it on
https://www.2wglobal.com/ The Link in a previous post describes the thread that details this all and how to do it, but putting it simply https://www.2wglobal.com/ -> Track & Trace -> Stick VIN in Cargo ID -> gives you boat it's on and then track that on http://www.sailwx.info/ using the callsign of the ship. Like I said, not taking any credit for this its all described in detail in another thread but managed to track mine to a ship that is currently in the middle of the English Channel on its way to Bremerhaven then around to Southampton by 4th Feb. The wait is killing me.

@ martin mustang
Really lovely looking 635 I want to try & stay local too, there's a 628 on Carzone at the moment, that looks like a cracking car. But I can't get a response from the seller There was a fab looking 840 on there recently too, but the cost of insurance, with it not being a "classic" was going to be a bit of an issue, but not over the top either. I never got to see the car though & now it's taken down off the site. Oh well the hunt continues.......... Enjoy your 635 |

You can always check the Classic forum http://bmwclassicsireland.com/ , ask the members! Often a good car is advertised to the members before going on done deal and all, by folks like you and me into BMs.
