Hi!
I am having trouble with my car shaking and vibrating while accelerating. It's fairly noticeable when smoothly accelerating but if I floor it, it becomes vicious. I will provide a video to show you what I mean. I just got new tires so I don't think it's the tires since it only shakes during acceleration.

Thanks for your insight.

If your car didn't do this prior to getting your new tires then I would start the investigation there.

New tires does give more vibration but not to the point like the video shows. I had winter tires installed last winter and i did feel it more shaky but after some drive it got better. I would go and balance your wheels and see if it improves.

Check the lug bolts tightness and torque.
If you have spacers, check the lug bolts length. Different thickness of spacer uses different length of lug bolt.

Thanks for you quick responses. Will try to tighten the wheels and see if that helps... if not then time to rebalance tires, since shop was kinda ghetto.

First things first is stop driving. That is not normal, probably not safe and may cause damage to related components. Secondly, check the wheel bolts and make sure they are all seated correctly, not misthreaded and torqued down appropriately. Lastly, if the wheels are not balance properly you would notice this more at highway speed than suburban or city driving unless they completely forgot to weight the wheels or didn't pay attention. Too many variables to dx as a keyboard technician. Go back to the shop or pull into your own garage and start inspecting but in all seriousness get off the road for your own safety, safety of others and to avoid damaging your vehicle.

And please don't go to a ghetto shop. Especially for wheels and tires. You life depends on it.

Agree with icono...stop driving it, that is NOT normal. As said above, start with the most recent change, since that sparked the vibrations. Could be any number of things.

wow, if my X5 (same millage) shakes like that I would stop immediately and call a flatbed to the dealer ASAP and make sure a loaner is available when I get there. Maybe something is mechanically wrong with the engine and/or transmission, not just wheels and tires.

I am just curious, how many of those speed bumps have you jumped already? It looks like you do that with speed of about 40 mph....

That video is brutal to watch. Not only the shaking of your X5, but how hard you're hitting those speedbumps.

Any suspension mods? Aftermarket wheels? Which tires do you have?

Perhaps after the tires were installed at the "ghetto shop" they test drove it for you???

Broke something while beating on it... No idea. Just get it to the dealership ASAP and stop driving it.

definitely not normal,
but I would stop driving if I got into one of your situation, frankly that's quite harsh.

Would love to know what the verdict was as to the culprit causing the vibrations. Very curious. Update??????

I would guess the wheels weren't tightened enough or over torqued and thread is messed up

I've had this happen to me a few cars ago, and it turned out to be one of the rear wheels not tightend up after a wheel change.

I suspect its the case here from the description of the work done (and location)
