I seen the new cars X5 M and X6 M earlier today in Spartanburg and they look great.
The wider track allows for broader arches and the 21" wheels look great in their final form , really filling the arches. At both the front and rear the areopacket is more aggressive with functional air curtains.
The markets these vehicles are sold in volume will be very happy indeed.
But there is far more , much more that makes these new M models really special and let's say surprising.

Can't wait myself. Waiting for the details and release of the X6M. I for one despised these cars until I drove a friend's X5M and current gen X6 50i. Was very impressed and I could do with the ground clearance!

Why are fog lights are such a deal breaker? They are functional and are overall such a small part of the look, especially of such a large vehicle as this...

I guess it's improved with reductions in CO2 emissions and less consumption of petrol version. Perhaps the movement could become only 4.0 liters of displacement BMW could make a change to compete harder against M-Benz and Audi.

I'm guessing at some sort of electric motor add-on to give them more power.

I'm going to guess air suspension, or torque vectoring. We've already seen the DCT setup.

Those fogs look like two little beady eyes piercing out from the front bumper. I wonder how much it would cost to have them removed and the bumper filled...

I'm sorry, they look ridiculous to me and the last gen bumper on X5M is the way it is supposed to look.

As an owner of a 2013 X5M I agree!

I actually agree with you.
The RRS is a powerful machine, and a better all-rounder than the X5M when it comes to practicality, but the X5/X6M are better performance cars and can outdo the RRS anyday, stock, not to mention a tuned version.
I've trialed a 0-62 (0-100) in my F15 X550i with launch control and got an astonishing 4.7, which is faster anyways from the RRS (4.9), and the E70 X5M did it in 4.8. I can not even imagine what the new X5M would do to the RRS, even if it was the RRS-SVR.
