Pros of F15: Aggressive look, part of BMW's new generation of Grill/Headlight integration. Premium interior design and options, more space (i think?!)
Cons: terrible rear design!!! It looks as if its pants (tail lights) is falling down...lol, I feel the tail lights are not proportionate to the size of the car (they are bigger) pretty weird fog light position (probably the next generation, they will place it above the headlights?!)... |

Since an owner spends most of the time INSIDE, that's where I'd put my main focus on. And I guess it's fair to say that in that regards, the F70 doesn't stand a chance..

With regard to the F15, I think this is what the X3 should've been in terms of design. X5 rear needs to be better. The whole thing is not sporty and sleek enough.

I think this all depends on which model of the E70 or F15. The MSport package looks good on both. Gives both that aggressive look. There's a lot of discussion on how bad the F15 looks from the side. I sorta agree. I like the front end view of the F15 with the new grill but the front (due to the new grill) "looks" longer than the E70 rounded front. This along with the minivan-ish looking back makes the whole side view look longer, less aggressive (sorta reminds me of the Mercedes R class). I'll reserve final judgment for when I see one but I'd have to get the MSport package to get the wide stance and flared look. I have an 2012 X5 with the wide flares fenders and it makes the vehicle in my opinion. Without the bigger wheels and flared fenders and longer "look", I don't find the F15 that interesting. But the interior looks great!

INTERIOR: definitely head and shoulders above the outgoing model.
EXTERIOR: I prefer the outgoing model. Unify the BMW kidney grill and the X5 will look like it belongs on a VOLVO lot. ... I don't like Volvos

e70 all the way
I'm a current 2011 e70 owner. IMO, e70 is the best looking x5 thus far. but my opinions are biased. What I like in the design in any car is simplicity in designs. Now a days, too many car designs tend to have "bold" lines on the body. an example would be hyundai cars. too many lines, too many curves. what the e70 had was simple straight lines, but bulges where it shows muscularity. and the lines visually carries from the front to the side and to the back. they just line up well. the new design doesn't really seem to connect in anyway. the body curvature just doesn't flow well all the way around. but that is just my 2 cents.

Wow... very old thread and most of ppl in this thread disliked F15... I'm wondering how many of these ppl are now getting F15.
From the pic, I do agree that the rear end of E70 does look good. But when comparing both of cars side by side in the park lot, I feel F15 looks better. Dunno. We have no choice right!? If you like to buy new X5, F15 is the only choice. I didn't buy E70 due to its look, insides and outsides. I now buy F15 because I like its look, insides and outsides. IMHO. This is very personal preference. I'm biased too. |
