constant bluetooth issues
Hello everyone
So I have had my X5 for abt 2ish weeks now. Everything is going well with the exception of my darn phone not being able to connect consistently via bluetooth to the car. When i picked up my vehicle, the BMW genius paired my phone with the car and it was perfect. Later on that day i noticed it was not connecting, so i went through the steps of deleting the phone and repairing it with the car. That part was a painful process because no matter what i did, the phone and the the car were not seeing each other. After a few attempts i finally was able to pair them again. ever since, everytime i drive the car its a crapshoot. sometimes it will connect, and sometimes it will not. I do not know if its an iphone issue, or a BMW software issue. I know some people have mentioned that it happens when the phone is plugged in via usb. I will have to try it tonight w/o plugging in the phone. is anyone else suffering through the same pains that i am experiencing? |

Of course you should, you are already running iOS10 so why not update to the most current version? That is generally the idea behind point releases, to improve stability and performance.

My 17 glitchy aslo, and it drives me bananas! There are times where the car simply wont connect to the phone. Then you try to connect and it states it may take time. Which it does. And fails most of the time.
Horrible setup for an 85k car... I also hate how the idrive and carplay are two totally separate unintegrated platforms that you need to toggle between.

Try deleting on both phone and car. Then repair on telephone 1 option on the idrive screen. I had the same problem with my wife's phone initially but fixed ever since. She has an iPhone 5s. I paired my iPhone 6 from day one with never a problem. Both phones have latest iOS

so i updated my IOS to the latest version. deleted the devices from my x5 and re-paired my iphone with the car. i did not enable apple carplay, just bluetooth via idrive and it seems to have worked. Im wondering if it has something to do with the apple carplay that is making the system all wonky.
about to embark on a journey up to niagara falls tomorrow. first road trip for the new car so lets see how it all goes. |
