And here is where I got messed up. When I get out of the 40e w/the key fob in my pocket it shuts down.

It depends on driving mode.

I tried to code this off but with no success. Dealer tried too. Should be in BDC_BODY, VAM_HORN_AT_SECURE. Change to nicht_aktiv.

Send me your BDC Cafd and I will take a look. I am surprised dealer tried.

EDIT: When "Read Coding Data," VAM_HORN_AT_SECURE is set to nicht_aktiv & you still get horn with engine on?

Yes sir. Unless my dealer is lying? I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.

Dealership to not have E-sys. So, they can only encode (ie VO Code). Unless there is some unknown HO-wort to enable, I think they are lying.

How in the world do we get two pages of posts on this issue?

Park BMW
Foot on brake
Push dash button once
Observe Tach drop to 0 rpm
Push dash button again
Dash lights dim
Foot off brake
Exit BMW
Push lock on remote

Elapsed time = 5 - 8 seconds depending on your speed.

BTW - I suspect I am not grasping something in this thread.

Depends if you adjusted to a point that would trigger. I also have car coded to move back seat when opening door.
