Cool 2015 X5 40d (Imperial Blue, Nappa Mocha, X-Line) Photo Shoot

It's taken 2.5 months (mostly shipping to Europe) from order to delivery, but she's finally here! My girlfriend wanted a bigger car, so we opted for a new X5. We test-drove a 30d, which was pretty nice, but wanted a little more oomph, so we've gone for the 40d.

In the summer months the car is used in a sunny south European country, but in the winter months we are more up north in the mountains where there is constant snow & bad roads. For that reason we opted for the 'Design Pure Experience' pack, which offers the 19" all-weather tires. Also not being on low-profile tires allows for less worries when it comes to parking on curbs & other obstacles.

Specs:
---------------------
2015 X5 40d
Imperial Blue
Design Pure Experience Exterior
Design Pure Experience Interior
Sport automatic transmission
19" Star-spoke style 449 alloy wheels
Mocha Nappa Leather
Fineline Pure Wood Trim
Navigation Professions
Harman/Kardon Sound
Matt Aluminum Roof Rails & Door Trim
Panoramic Glass Sunroof
Heated & Ventilated Seats
Anthracite Headlining
Adaptive Dynamic Suspension
Surround-View
& bunch of other little extra's

Initial thoughts on the car after just a few days (600km):
---------------------
* Car looks better in person than I expected
* LOVE the interior (was really worried about the mocha & fineline, as I hadn't seen it in person when I ordered it)
* LOVE the sound system! (And my other car has a 5k Burmester system, so it had a lot to live up to)
* Engine seems plenty fast & responsive (in sport mode).
* NOT impressed with fuel economy so far! Get about half of what is claimed! (9.8km/l | 23 MPG US | 27 MPG UK | 10.2 L/100KM)
I hope it gets better when the engine is fully run in.
* Diesel engine noise is pretty nasty from standstill acceleration. Once you are on the move, you can barely hear the engine, so that's good.
* Surround-View camera's make parking easy! That system works great.

I hope the photo's help some of you decide in the process of ordering a future X5.

Little extra, my own daily driver is a 2014 911 991 4S

Beautiful! Congrats on the arrival! Love the backdrop/scenic images to go with it! Great 911 as well! Thanks for sharing, @mrboon .

2 questions for you:

1) Where is that amazing view for your Porsche images?
2) What camera did you use? These images are amazing.

They don't, but I guess his options are different since he's somewhere in Europe. As we have said before, BMW is lame with options for different countries.

However, anyone can retrofit an M-Sport steering wheel on an X-Line. I've done it recently, so it's not a difficult change.

Yep the steering wheel is np here in Europe. But the options per country are very different. Which is silly imo. It all comes from the same factory. The northern European countries get way more options & colors than the southern ones.

Yeah...this is how I feel towards BMW regarding options:

Where do you people on this forum live?!?! Man! The F15 is beautiful, but the backdrop kinda out does the car!

In addition to this Southern Europe backdrop, I've seen Hawaii, a lake side shot (can't remember the lake, but it was a gorgeous photo), chrisny's snowy backdrop, etc. Geez....all I have is a parking lot.

Haha, Z, go to a rooftop parking garage and capture the background of your cityscape . You can never go wrong with parking garages.

Haha, thanks As far as I can see on the forum, blue isn't very popular.

Have you got your X5 with blacked out windows in the rear? If so, do you have some pictures of it. I haven't seen it yet with blacked out windows, and I'm not 100% sure it would look good, as the windows will be darker than the paint.

Thanks guys! Will do an updated shoot in a few weeks. Got some new bigger wheels incoming, blacked out the windows too. Should give the car a meaner look
