in the overall scheme of things $500 is peanuts versus making a bad mistake/choice

go with your gut and hope you're right

My wife and I decided to stay with the X5. It's been good to us and our kids and hopefully the by next lease period the X5 will have the next gen upgrade which will once again lead the industry.

Agree completely.

I personally prefer the X5, by a country mile.

However, if you prefer the Jag, the $500 loss is peanuts in comparison to three years of siding you were in something else.

You live one time. Don't waste time.

Not sure if I'd get an F15, and then another F15. Might as well get something else, although I would not get a Jaguar. A friend of mine recently bought a 2017, new from a Jaguar dealership. Absolutely nothing but issue after issue, so the point where he was so fed up with it he gave it back to the dealership.

You shouldn't regret it as it is still an industry leader. Best family hauler I've owned so far . I have 3 boys and space/confort is in abundance. I also own an XF and love it , but the x5 vs the F Pace is like comparing apples to oranges. All depends what you want and like. My 2 cents,Cheers

Garage List
Technically speaking you didn't buy anything yet, but what you are is doubting your decision. That normal. When I was buying my car I was doubting myself wondering if I should gone with a number of other choices instead: Range Rover (condescending attitude), Audi Q7 (expensive with options I wanted), Mercedes G-class (uncomfortable), Porsche Cayenne (too many options).

I think once your X5 arrives you won't regret it. Anyways I am happy with my choice.

The F Pace is more competitor for X3 and compared to X3, it's a lot better.

I test drove the F Pace twice and nearly signed on the line. However, reading about the problems owners were having with it... I am not sure whether all has been resolved with JLR but body alignment and tech problems put me off. I love my M50D and have had absolutely no regrets it is everything I wanted. Each to his own.

Drive one. It's the only way to tell if you'd really like it.

If so, $500 isn't that big of a deal if the dealer gives you a hard time about it.

He has a 2014 X5 35i, unless the OP optioned out with different suspension upgrades and a different trim ( Xline/Lux Line/Msport ) you are essentially driving the same car. Suspension upgrades really make a difference on driving characteristics and the Msport line provides a crisper and faster shifts with the sports auto transmission.

I'm going from a 2014 Xdrive 35i (Luxury Line) to a 2017 Xdrive 35i (M Sport). Is there a noticeable improvement in transmission? I thought M Sport only provided exterior/interior trim differences. Didn't know performance also improved.

Msport comes with several enhancements.
IMO nicer front and rear design versus the other lines and faster shifts from the transmission. According to some members here it can be coded.

I would highly recommend adding Adaptive M suspension with your build if it isn't too late. It only cost $950 and it changes the X5 on how it handles and drives.

+1

Guessing it maybe to late to add it though if you are expected to take delivery at the end of this month.

I also just learned to today that the maintenance plan has been reduced to 3 years/36k miles. BMW is really shooting themselves in the foot.

OK, I am confused about your comment then. The maintenance plan reduction is just for the F15?

I was under the impression that this was for all of BMW.

And your post was that BMW was shooting themselves in the foot. But it appears that BMW is actually doing really well.

FWIW, I absolutely love your new build. And I think my F15 is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I love it.

That said, I much prefer MB as a whole at this point. I drove an M3 while test driving cars for my wife. It was very expensive and came with near to nothing at all.

I ended up getting her a completely loaded with the most incredible interior leather ever C43 AMG for about 15k less. The only thing it lacked is a few horses. Yet it is still super fast.

And the C63 AMG was an absolute monster. Fully loaded, super fast, same price as a bare bones M3.

I prefer my SUV to the MB line-up. But just about everything else, in my book, MB wins.

You are correct. All models are now 3 years/36,000 miles for maintenance. Bumper-to-Bumper factory warranty is still 4 years/50,000 miles.

Ok, yeah, the foot comment I was referring to BMW rolling back on the maintenance plan from 4years/50k miles to 3 years/36k while also removing some services that were included previously (brake pads, rotors, wipers..etc). This applies to all 2017 and newer models. They also increased the base prices on April 1st for most of their models.

This is most definitely going to impact sales and it's already noticeable in their highest selling SUV (X5). These total sales while high now I project to fall over the next few years unless BMW offers new LCI on some of the models or some other incentive for consumers to head to the BMW dealerships over the competitors. Looking at Jaguar which offers 5years/60K warranty and service, BMW is starting to take a backseat in the luxury market IMO.

And thanks for your comment on my new build. I think it looks nice. I have a white 2014 and I feel like there are way too many white colored SUV's/cars recently. It's just tacky now. Space Grey looks classy and the black trim makes it look mean as hell.

I agree MB has an edge on BMW in most of their vehicle classes.

March 2017 X5 sales were strong and only second to the outgoing X3.

I would attribute that to a lot of 2014 lease enders opting to renew with a 2017 X5. I am in that category.
