Looks like you can code auto start up of Sport Mode

I recently got the BimmerCode app for iPhone and I noticed that there is an option to not only default "on" Eco Mode & Comfort, but I also saw that Sport mode was included!

I haven't tried it, because I simply am not interested in starting my car in Sport mode all the time, but every other coding option on this app works great!

So I don't doubt it for it works. Just make sure you also download the BimmerLink app (from the same publisher) so you can clear out fault codes after coding your X5... it's free after all.

You do need to unlock the coding feature on the BimmerCode app, which is cheap, and you will need a $20 vGate wifi II apadter (available on Amazon) but for the ease of use, it's well worth it.

Customer support is also great as the publisher usually responds the same day with any questions that you may have.

Highly recommended!

You can either code default driving mode, or to remember EcoPro, Comfort, & Sport startup.

I use bimmercode instead of Carly... the interface is simple yet offers advance pro mode.
Combine with a vgate adapter ($20) it's a lot cheaper than Carly plus the developer is on top of each support questions.

I highly recommended

Coding to default to Sport flat-out doesn't work (2016 F85). I've read old lposts that it isn't possible as well but assumed since that post was 5 yrs ago it would be doable by now but I've tried many, many times & it won't stick. Same with remembering last mode used.

Tried to do this with my 2016 and no luck. Hate always having to switch it in sport mode😡

I’m able to code through BimmerCode to start up in Sport mode (2014 35i). You have to code it in two different modules though to make it stick. Don’t recall off the top of my head but it didn’t need expert mode to do it and is pretty easy.

If you could let us know which modules they are next time you use the app that would be great..

Works for me and looks like others if you see posts above.

Remembering last mode consistently works for 2016 F15/F16/F85/F86 models but does not for newer G05.

Ditto for working. I just coded my 2014 to start in Sport mode & also remember the LAST mode by using the regular side of Bimmercode...you have to code both the BDC & the ICM modules for this coding selection to "work".

And I also went into the EXPERT side & coded the sport mode to be "individualized" or "selectable". I have the NBT and standard suspension...so sport mode was an all-or-nothing selection...in that when SPORT mode is selected the chassis (steering only with a standard suspension since there's no special suspension options) & drivetrain both kick in.

For those with the newer iDrive systems or if you have an adaptive suspension...your SPORT mode may already be capable of individualizing the sport mode by choosing chassis only, drivetrain only, or chassis & drivetrain.

For some, selecting to always start in sport mode may not be desire-able if you don't want the "hopped-up" engine/transmission/throttle parameters in city/urban driving conditions. But if you prefer the tighter steering feel of sport mode...if you select CHASSIS ONLY for sport mode...this can get rid of the lighter steering feel of the default COMFORT MODE...and not have the elongated shifts, higher RPM, and throttle changes that come with the "drivetrain" parameters of sport mode.

If your SPORT mode isn't selectable due to you having the standard suspension...you can go into the EXPERT mode of Bimmercode and code the individualization of sport mode. This is what I did this past weekend.
\
This is what my SPORT mode screen originally looked like...I could not make any selections...and the chassis & drivetrain parameters was the default and only selection:

After coding...the SPORT mode screen changed to the one below and gave me the option to make selections (individualize) the way SPORT mode behave:

The images below show what I changed in the HU-NBT (1 of 2 modules that require coding) to make the changes above that allowed me to configure my SPORT mode (individualize) so that I could select CHASSIS (only), DRIVE TRAIN (only), or both CHASSIS & DRIVE TRAIN.

I used the BIMMERCODE app & used EXPERT MODE to change settings in the HU-NBT & ICM control modules.

Changes made in the HU-NBT control module:

1. Go into HU-NBT module and select for 3001

2. You can scroll down through the selections to find it or use the SEARCH field and type MACRO_FDS

3. if your default selection says only_popup then change the selection to what is shown in the pic in #4 below

4. select popup_and_config
The images below show what I changed in the ICM module (2 of 2 modules that require coding) to make the changes above that allowed me to configure my SPORT mode (individualize) so that I could select CHASSIS (only), DRIVE TRAIN (only), or both CHASSIS & DRIVE TRAIN.
1.Open the ICM module then go into EXPERT MODE and select 300A DSC_ICM_Codierdaten

2. You can scroll down to find it or you can type SPORT into the search box to find the selections shown in the 2nd pic below {QdmKfvSport IndividualisierbarDEP}

3. if you see that NichtIndividualisierbar is selected, then change it to what is seen in the next pic below

4. Select Individualisierbar

I just wish i could separate steering and suspension. I want sport steering all the time but comfort suspension sometimes.

What suspension do you have? Do you have one of the adaptive suspensions (M-adaptive, DHP, etc) or the standard suspension?

If you have the standard suspension...then what you desire is what I showed how to do in my post above. If you have the standard suspension...if you select CHASSIS only in the sport mode selection...then the only thing that will be affected is the steering since your suspension has nothing to adapt to by it being the regular/standard suspension.

Since I'm using esys I can't find the option to set sport as default. I was able to do what you showed and customize the sport setting. Do you have a screenshot of the set default options.. and which modules?

Unfortunately the pics I took when settin SPORT MODE as permanent start-up mode aren’t going to be much help to you using ESYS since I used the Bimmercode app. This set-up feature is on the “easy” side (not the Expert side)...so its just checking off which mode you want as default (and to remember the last mode) in both the BDC & ICM modules.

You can see the screen shots below...but again, there on the regular side of Bimmercode where you just make the easy selections. The hard work has already been done by the developers of the app.

I’m sure this is somewhere on the coding “cheat sheets”. You’ll have to google for them (hopefully not hard to find).

Ya I guess that doesn't really tell me much about where it would be on esys. Thanks for trying though.

I have the cheat sheet but it's not on there.. the search continues.
