F16 X6 M-sport, M - performance brakes, worth the change?

To all,
I took my X6 50i to Road America for a track day and am now looking at the M-performance brake package. I drove the X6 hard, as hard as i could, i didn't warp the rotors, but i was worried i might. My next track will be Brainerd Raceway and i really want to ask if anybody has done this mod and what your thoughts were. I don't care about the cost, it's the experience of pushing that vehicle into that corner as fast as you can, braking and not cooking your brakes.
I've read all about brake dust, don't care. I will probably learn to change out the pads for better track pads.
The X6 might not be the best track vehicle but I had an absolute ball at Road America and I want more. An M4 is the next vehicle.
Thanks for your advice.

I personally would do Brembo if you are serious.
Because the MPBK only change the front and just bigger rotor on the rear.
While the Brembo are 6 piston front and 4 piston rear with real floating rotor.
I had them on my F15 X5 sDrive35i and I tracked it once with the Brembo, very impressive stopping power for this big car.

Ben, which brembos did you have? I'm thinking of this upgrade but the rotors are sooo big -- 405mm front and 395mm rear. CariD claims they fit fine for 19" wheels and above. I'll bet the spare wouldn't work though, but I don't know.

Anyone else do this upgrade?

Duke

F15 space saver which is 18" will not work. You need F85 19" space saver.

Duke,

I used 405 front and 380 rear.
I am not sure if it will fit the 19", when I used it on the stock 20", it is a tight fit already.
You may want to call Brembo to check with them directly.

Were your brembos pretty noisy? Would you get them again?

Thanks. D

As Maverik259 stated M performance is the 4 pot. 395 front 385 rear. While performance wise Brembo is better I didnt think I needed it and Mperf looks better (with F85 rotors front and rear). I think my deal was pricy as I got F85 rotors in addition to the whole perf package (unless I sell OEM perf rotors - possibility as they are same for E70 X5M I believe).

So the f85 rotors perforated and two-piece, correct? And they fit the m performance retrofit calipers fine? Thanks.

No noise.
I would get it again.
But not if I am getting F95.

I think I've got it but I want to be certain: the F85 rotors (two-piece, drilled) work with the m performance retrofit kit, is that correct? I have confirmed that the rotors are the same dimension (395x36 and 384x24) but I'm not certain the hat dimensions are the same -- I'm sure they'll bolt on, just wonder/worry if the hat height/depth is the same. I'm going to run both 467 19" (winter set) and 469 20" wheels.

Another question, did you need the longer hex attachment bolt m8x12 or was the shorter bolt the correct fit?

Thanks. Duke

Correct and covered in great detail here:

http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1464952

If you are referring to the bolt that holds the rotor on the hub, new bolts are needed for the front, if desired. Also covered in that thread.

I also don't think the F85 rotors are a true 2 piece rotor. But I've never seen them up close. Racing brake is another option. They make excellent components and give you the ability to replace the iron rings instead of buying a whole new 2 piece rotor. Only downside is they are a bit more expensive at the start.

Thanks all. I've been through that thread referenced above -- just want to be certain before the money dump. Trust but verify!
