BTW, did you ever have to remove the window trims at all during your window nightmare? Trying to get mine painted gloss black (I have a non M Sport) but I think the front window trims may be a bit difficult for a non seasoned modder like myself.
wow, sir - thanks so much! i love this stuff and even better to be able to share with someone that cares to read and enjoy with me

i did not have to remove the window trims at all. i believe they are fairly affordable though and would encourage you to purchase vs trying to paint them.

awesome work

a lot of places indicated that it was not only a swap and some coding but there was wiring involved. at first I discredited this but after further research and seeing the schematics realized there is some work involved.

my particular instance was I was going from my 2017 OEM xenon headlamps to second hand 2015 adaptive LEDs which proved only a little more work was involved. took us a minute to figure that part out haha.

if swapping same year, the wiring requires only a swap of how the units receive power. if swapping from an earlier MY to 2016+ it requires that you depin and swap how the modules receive power. as on xenon head units there is power for each module on the LED units there is on power for all of them. but that is it. we ran power with a nice wire from the battery fuse box as done OEM but technically could be done from the box in the hood and care taken to hide the wires perhaps but I wanted as clean and professional look as possible.

wrapped the wires in cable wrapping tape and tucked them and one would be very hard pressed to even tell anything was done unless specifically looking for that and very dedicated.

did the coding for the LED modules and camera set up and the high-beam assist stalk swap which was really a five minute swap (take steering wheel off, pop off the steering column cover and remove the existing non HBA stalk and cluster and snap back in the new stalks with HBA) and did coding for anti-dazzle GFHB and euro set up and now it's all back together like OEM with some extra coded features.

will post up the photos shortly.

Hey great job!!! I just got an 18. I am looking to do the same retrofit and some of the same mods. is it possible I could PM you for some help?

first off, welcome to the forum!

I actually have my whole set up for sale here (adapative LED lamps and HBA stalk for steering column)
http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1471318

you will need everything in what I am selling to get it to work correctly. I also include instructions beyond what I provided in the thread for proper installation. feel free to PM me for help and I'm happy to lower pricing a bit more for a quick sale on here!

so I already have all the available parts to be installed in the car, I would need if possible only guidance regarding the connections (headlamp connectors, column etc) to be made for the operation of the led. because in the images in the forum did not understand the forms of connection, if not ask too much, I would like your help.

Did you replace the steering wheel stock as well? Or just your lights? What kind of rewiring did you do? What year is your X5 and what year or part numbers are the lights you've installed?

Great thread! I commend you on the patience it takes to do a lot of these "mods"... Gauges look outstanding, and I wish the budget allowed for me to do some of the CF upgrades, but likely if I mod my X5, its going to be go fast stuff and wheels/tires.

Looks awesome!

Bumping this because I'm interested in the rear fog light retrofit as well. According to realOEM, all US F15s share the same tail light P/Ns. What else would be different between a 14-16 and 17 F15? LCM? Wiring harness? I can't find the P/Ns for these on realoem unfortunately.

Has anyone successfully added the Euro switch module and coded the rear fog light on a 14-16 F15?

Yes there is like one. It requires rewiring or something like that. Or new lights. They're not the same regardless of part number. They're plug and play and the new part I'm sure supersedes as most parts do within the same model class. The headlights between 14 and 17 are different too. But I bet the part number is the same. Just supersedes now as it's still plug and play with all the years across the F15/16

Hi mate,

Love the bmw led mod you did. I just bought the 2013 adaptive led headlights for my Bmw f06 2013. trying to change from bixenon to the led. As its my first time ever i have hit a dead end which is the wiring mod that is required.

I straight up plugged it in and the light came on however the signal lights not working and other stuff. Been told need to move the wires around but guy charging $1000 which i find crazy for just wire reconfiguration.

Can you help? spent x amount of money thinking of giving up!

Did you do any coding?
I don’t know how the 2013 F06 is wired so I couldn’t say - have a look on newtis and see what the wiring diagrams look like to see what you might need to move around.

unlike on f-series where you can simply remove the missing button and modify to make the plug a pushable button and code the rest, the f15 does not play nice.

one is required to code, certainly, but also purchase a lighting switch from euro model to get the button. this works out nicely anyway for me as i would want the OEM backlit button for a clean install.

ordered the switch and was a ten minute swap of the switches. the coding was already done and waiting for an active switch a while ago.

bonus was i completely forgot about the new input now being made available to the 6WB retorfit cluster and the new light i would get for when the switch was on. love it.

in no particular order here are the swap photos i took and at the bottom the final result with the OEM euro rear fogs turned on.

not sure why so many people said this was not possible in all the threads i read on here but here i am to prove it is and easily done, at that!

Thanks

Hi Gwes

First of all thanks for your reply much appreciated.

Regards to coding no. I literally got the headlights yesterday and all i was plug it in and it did light up. After months of research i have learnt that i need to move certain wires around. However as it is my first car and first time using forums i have had no luck in finding which wires need moving. I have used Newtis before but never for electric work and frankly dont know if i am looking at the right diagram or not.

Could you please help or direct me to the right solution? Been searching for months no luck.

it is direct PnP. you just need the coding behind it to support the function.

At minimum you will need coding - the wire stuff probably won’t just be a straight swap you’re going to likely need to run something new. I haven’t had a chance to look at the diagrams but that’s just a guess.

Is it possible to code it to work with front fog lights same time without changing switch?
