Maybe. All my cars are BMW with Auto-H. I am used to checking dash to confirm car is locked in place before releasing brake.

My wife's MB has it but in order to activate, you have to push hard on the brake pedal once stopped. BMW's implementation is much better!

It does spoil you, as does ACC. After driving my X6 w/ACC for 2 years, then driving another vehicle that doesn't have it, there was some close calls (rear end accident).

the, the only annoying part is at crawling speeds where the auto hold will tend to stop the car for u, and not in a smooth way.

maybe ur wife's lexus has hill assist instead of auto hold feature. that would explain why it will only hold for a few secs and disengages. the x5 has this feature too.

That's exactly how the Lexus is.

On my Q7 there is no auto hold but if you apply parking brake, you can hit the gas and go, so I started using that on long red lights, sadly it doesn't illuminate the brake lights so it's a bit nerve wrecking so I try not to use it at night.

I would not be motivated enough if I had to hit electronic brake each time.

This is very true! I use auto hold all the time and love it but I always try to switch it off before parking as it jumps on the brakes when creeping into a space, makes me ,

I have to apologize. I just realized you all are talking about implementing auto hold by pushing the button behind the parking brake actuator. I haven't used that for so long, I forgot about it. And yes, when I use it that way, the brake lights stay on when auto hold is doing it's thing and I take my foot off the brake. The way I use it is the once-at-a-time method... coming to a complete stop, pulling up on the parking brake actuator with my foot still on the brake pedal, then I can take my foot off the pedal. Doing it that way, the brake light does NOT stay on. Which is fine with me... I'm already at a stop and it should be pretty obvious to anyone who is sentient. I don't like having the auto stop on all the time by pushing the button for the same reason six stated above, it's not good for stop and go traffic. Anyway, sorry for the confusion earlier in this thread.
